Hello!

  • Hello, everyone!

My name is Saphirina, but I go by Rina. I'm from the United States and have over 100 lbs to lose. I am currently at 242 lbs (started at 253 a month ago). My goal weight is 125 lbs.

I have always struggled with my weight. I was an overweight child and teenager. In college, I started losing weight in a very unhealthy way and spiraled into anorexia. My lowest recorded weight at the time was 68 lbs, but I think I went a bit lower than that before I started recovery.

Since then, I have steadily gained more and more weight until I reached my highest of 253 last month. Getting over the 250 lb mark was the wake up call I needed to start losing the weight. So, here I am!

I look forward to getting to know this community!

  • Hello Rina and

Congrats on your weight loss and commitment. Sorry you have had so many struggles; I hope you are having your weight loss plan supervised by your doctor.

What kind of eating and exercise plan are you on?

  • Thank you for the welcome, Misti!

My doctor is aware of my weight loss efforts and is being very supportive. I'm fortunate to have found a doctor that understands weight loss-related struggles.

I have a degree in Nutritional Sciences, although I decided to take a different path career-wise.

My food plan is based on a 1000 Calorie diet. I do not eliminate any foods. Rather, I focus on nutrient-dense foods with the goal of getting plenty of protein, 25-30g of fiber, calcium, beneficial unsaturated fats, etc. This is not easy to do in a 1000 Calorie diet, which is why I wouldn't recommend anyone attempt this without consulting a nutrition professional.

Exercise-wise, I'm extremely out of shape. So, for now, I take daily walks around my neighborhood. I avoid steep inclines at this time, focusing on slowly increasing my fitness level. I am also slowly starting yoga again, something that I've been trained in previously.

That's it in a nutshell! My biggest struggle is managing expectations. Losing weight the healthy way takes time, but it's difficult to not want results quick, especially given my history.
