Working out to build muscle?

  • I'm on week 8 of IP, I've lost 27lbs and it's going great! But my butt is disappearing!! I know we're not supposed to work out in phase 1, but would I be able to do a little exercise to try to build my glutes? Or should I just wait until I finish IP?
  • Body weight exercises are great to start with (squats, etc) then you can move on to weight training; also here is a great thread for those learning to run while on IP: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/idea...-couch-5k.html
and another good site with all the gals on it who are still active on this forum & maintaining: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/idea...-muscular.html

    hope this helps!

  • I too have been surprised how flat my but has gotten! T have been walking about 3-4 miles every day for the last 2.5 months but no other exercise. So last week I started a beginner's HIIT workout to try and tone up and reclaim my butt. It's starts really easy and builds up with each workout. So far so good! Good luck to you.

  • Hi Everyone, I'm back and reading through posts for strength and encouragement. I haven't been able to stay 100% for a while and thus haven't lost the weight - funny how that works. However, I'm on day 57 of a countdown from 60 - and my goal is to stay 100% for 60 days. I hope to stay strong after 60 days but I needed to give myself a shorter goal for now. Anyways I digress...building muscle. I just started back at the gym and I'm working with a trainer lifting weights. This is my first real serious attempt at strength training consistently. Well I saw that Ideal Protein came out with some BCAA's. Has anyone tried them? I've been searching google but only see the very basic description. I'm wondering if the packets are a meal, or supplement like potassium, or if it is a restricted or what. Also, please share any experiences with these if possible. Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.
