Thankful Thursday, SBD Chat, April 7

  • Good morning!

I'm Thankful for my family. I'm thankful for all of you. I'm thankful for my furry friends. I'm thankful I found a way of eating wishing sustains me in a healthy manner and helps me keep up on my weight-loss plan. I started back on phase 2 really seriously on March 18 and I'm down 5 pounds already. Of course, I'm just working towards my ticker again but that's OK. In the old days the skilled just used to go up and up and I seemed to have no control. Now I just know what to do and do it.

At the moment, I am thankful for coffee. Actually in the morning any caffeine will do. I woke up early and just had to get the pot going. My excuse was let the dog out. Now I haven't decided if I'm going to stay up or lie back down for a spell. It's beautiful weather today but I have to head to court at 8:30 for the eviction. It should be interesting. It's my first. After that, it's undecided. I suppose if the tenants show up or not will be the deciding factor in what happens next. I just
wish this was over so life could go on and I guess I will have a better idea shortly.

I guess until then I will drink coffee. I'll make sure to have my smoothie before I leave.

I thought I would just share for Nicole and Concon. On my first phase 1 I was definitely low-energy. I did get to the point where I wasn't hungry, either. My worst couple of days were actually towards the end. I got really tired and actually got hungry at a point. I got advice here and decided it was better to eat extra OP foods and take it easy. That really helped. Now my energy is very consistent. I find I'm never really hungry at all. I just have to work with my emotional desire to eat all the time. LOL

    Have a great day everyone!
  • Good morning, Debbie and chicks to come!

We ended the day yesterday with a mini-blizzard. Snowed like crazy in the afternoon and evening so we did not go out for DH's birthday. Will probably try again tonight.

Debbie, I will echo your sentiments. I am thankful that my life is routine right now. I like my job (although I occasionally am stressed from the busyness), I like the people I work with. I have a great DH, my kids are doing well, our health is good right now. We have so much compared to some. (and I made my March WL goal, even if Ruth deleted the sticky.)

And I've got coffee for the day so I'm good to go. Got to fly!
  • Great job Debbie on losing 5 lbs! It does become second nature, the way to eat and prepare foods. It was actually really easy to do phase I when I was trying to get back on track. I should really do it right now too, but it's not my priority .

The eviction would be interesting. If you're up to it, let us know how it goes? I'd be a bunch of nerves, and caffeine would make it worse! I am such a non-confrontational person, although you definitely need to do what you're doing.

I'm thankful for my kitties...I'm not sure what I'd do without them. I used to have 5, and have lost 3 in the last 2 years, but 2 is a good number. Although I do believe it is illegal for a crazy cat lady . They are such good companions for me while I'm at home. The one (Pickle) is 16 going on 17, I keep telling him he can't die while I'm not working. I would get another kitten to start integrating him into the house, but not right now.

Speaking of cats, my crazy cat friend lady is coming over for coffee this AM. She is so sweet and brings me a little something *every* time even though I know she's on quite a budget being newly retired. Things like her homemade trail mix, a bag of the dried blueberries and cherries she put in them because they are *so* yummy. So I made sure she liked dark chocolate, and bought her some dark chocolate covered cherries (not like those boxed ones, but dried ones) and dark chocolate almonds. They're in bulk at the local natural food store and soooooo good. I hope she likes them!

I'm a little chatty cathy today! Have a great Thursday!

Attached is my typical afternoon...me on my recliner (that's the old one, not the new heated one!), with a laptop on my lap, and two kittehs fighting for top spot!

  • Good morning Beth....we're supposed to get 1-2" of the fluffy stuff ...Friday night?!? REALLY!?!? I LOVE winter, but REALLY!?!?
  • Good morning, Debbie and thanks for reminding me to be thankful this morning plus your wise advice to Nicole and Concon. I had a bad night with leg cramps and insomnia and needed more of a boost than coffee. I am very thankful that I finally ditched my Keurig and now just turn on my old reliable electric pot. (I'm saving the grounds and paper filters for the compost bin.)

We got SNOW yesterday - a goodly amount. The snow plow went by just now. It's also trash day so it's back to my lined crocs and warm coat for the trip to the road! Then I need to go into overdrive and tidy the house because Michelle comes to clean today.

No interviews today but I do have a noon meeting to firm up plans for a bus tour and lunch on the 27th. Katherine is our wonderful events coordinator but she is going to be in Italy! She has pre-made some of the stuff - chutney and cheese - but the rest is up to me. So far it'll be 48 people plus the bus driver and tour guide. We are serving a lentil soup garnished with sour cream and chives, our Mill bread and our ploughman's lunch plate with cheese, hardboiled egg, some ham and assorted raw veggies and fruit. She quoted $12 a plate and it'll be hard to do it for that. There's dessert too but that's food porn!

My legs cramped in the night and my arms are sore today so I'm going to have a hot shower and a Voltaren rub after I haul out the trash which I'd better do right now as the "lad" (he's 60) is often here by now.

    Wishing everyone a Thankful Thursday.
  • Good morning,

Getting ready to head into work, as I have one interview for now scheduled hopefully they will be good. Lots of other meetings on my calender as well. I am thankful for my family and friends and am also thankfully for this way of eating I might get off track but as soon as I get back on the scale shows it. I had a bonus of the scale going down another 1.5 lbs today so still on track.

Debbie fingers crossed that the eviction goes well today.

Beth hope you get to have your DH celebration this evening

Tywnn right now we have 1 dog and 1 cat and 2 chicks and 2 ducks lol

Ruth way to go with the plank, you go!!!

Alright need to run, Have a great day everyone!
  • Good morning-

This will be a quick first message today. I hit the no energy point yesterday but it comes and goes which I think is good. I ate on plan yesterday and felt good 80 % of the day. While my official weigh in is not until Monday I peeked and eating this way is working Here is my MP for today:

Breakfast: 2 eggs, natural ham, laughing cow cheese wedge 1 cup of coffee with Splenda and FF milk

Lunch: Grilled chicken salad ( chicken, cucumbers, lettuce, celery, tomatoes, almonds, low fat blue
    cheese crumbles, oil and vinegar)

Dinner: Taco skillet ( from phase 1 dinners), 2 cups of salad with oil/vinegar and cucumber salad

    Snacks: pepperoni crisps
    Low-fat string cheese
1 cup of coffee with Splenda and FF milk

As much water as I can get down usually 32 ounces or more.

I have family stuff going on right now and normally I would stuff my face but I am not. My 90-year-old grandma is starting to lose her mind. She thinks people are after her. She lives in PA and I am in NY. I might have to go to PA in a drop of a hat not sure. I am just grateful that I have support here so I don't go off crazy eating. That was always my go to. I wish I could be one of those who can't eat when they are stressed.

    Have a great day everyone,

    Nikki
  • Nikki - looks like a great meal plan! The only thing I'd say is if you're not satisfied or have the awful headache is to add beans in there (are beans in the skillet?).

Where in PA? I'm in State College....
  • Nikki it's so hard when the ones we love need us and we aren't close by. After my mom and step dad moved to VA from Long Island I would go visit my grandma every chance I could. We had to admit her to a wonderful nursing home in Center Moriches. Eventhough she didn't know who I was I still went. It was actually nice she thought I was my mom and my son was my brother. She used to ask me why I never brought the girl. So in my heart I believed she still remembered me....even if some days she would tell me a story and click like a chicken!!!! My son was little then and always loved her "stories"

So today I am thankful for my wonderful grandpa and grandma who helped raise me. For their memories which I was able to share with my grandma as she got older.

SB has certainly been a positive change in my life. I am grateful for all the wonderful friends here.

On a side note John and I failed to communicate and are on separate trains going home. Lol I ran to make the train. He was waiting just outside the gate. Oops guess I'll be nice and wait for him. Since I picked him up this morning lol. Very pretty view of the Hudson. Can't wait to get home and relax. My tummy is still a little upset.

Debbie hope it went well today. Thinking of you and all the chicks on my commute home
