Food History...

  • For those of you that were interested in O.A., I thought I'd let you see what my sponsor gave me as homework. Every sponsor is different.

Food History-How have you controlled or managed food? You can do this by decade or childhood, adolescence, young adult, and middle age.
     Childhood
     Adolescence
     Young Adulthood
     Middle Age

The theme is to notice the patterns of unmanageability in your eating.

What are your red light foods?

What foods give you the most trouble (trigger foods)? "One bite is too many and a thousand is never enough."

What behaviors give you the most trouble?

How do you give yourself self-care?

    Action Steps to take:
Email sponsor what you ate daily.
List 5 things you are grateful for daily.
Read out of O.A. 12 and 12. Start with Step 1.
Use the tools when cravings hit. It will pass.

    Good luck in 2016.
  • Good luck with your program!
  • I wish I had O.A over the years I think it must be fantastic. All the best to you!
  • Thank you. This is more of a lifestyle change than a "diet". You face your addiction head on and in a variety of ways. There is always something new to uncover. When I was in the cycle of bingeing, no portion control, and using food to not feel my feelings, I thought it or I was ok. You get to see your addiction from many angles. Like anything, it comes down to willingness and rigorous honesty with a lot of action. There are many habits to relearn. It is worth it, even though it is the hardest thing anyone with disordered eating will ever do. It is doable and this works if you work it.
