Twinkling Tuesday Daily Chat Nov 17

  • I've got a minute to say hi while the car warms up (so I don't have to scrape..)

    Anyone else up?
  • It is clear and cold this morning but the stars were twinkling all night and today will be sunny. I have a pretty normal day at work and then get my oil changed afterward. I might take my sneakers and try to take a walk while they are working on it. Luckily it is the wrong time of day to be tempted by a Cracker Barrel breakfast!

Other than that I am happy the long-range forecast is still clear of that &*#@ that I know is coming soon. DH wondered recently if the lake effect snow season will be bad since the water is so warm. Debbie are you getting hit today?

Got to fly. May your Tuesday Twinkle, chicks!
  • Good morning!

It looks like it's going to be clear and sunny here today, too, Beth. I heard that parts of Colorado are expecting up to 18" of snow today - does that affect you, Debbie?

Book club was so much fun last night. Our assigned book for the month was "Wicked", and the party theme was based on that. Some very cool and innovative decorations and food creations, LOL. I'm glad we're done with that book, though. It was a difficult read, not something I'd decide to read on my own, but it was interesting.

I want to try to get out and finish weeding the huge juniper bed at the farm today. That's a horrible job, and I have to make sure I wear knee-high boots and sturdy gloves, and they cover a long, steep bank. But I'm almost done and it's looking really nice. Next year I must keep ahead of it!

OK, time for my overnight oats and on with the day!
  • Good morning fly by I'll be back tonight to catch- up
  • Good morning!

Yes, we are getting snow here. We are 20 miles from the continental divide and I'm sure that's where they will get the most snow. It's been snowing since 10 in the morning yesterday. We only have 4 or 5 inches right now and it's still snowing. We need to go to Glenwood and I think will wait to early tomorrow morning. I think the storm will have passed by then and the roads will be clear.

For now I will drink coffee, get my smoothie made, go shovel and head to work. Have a great day everyone!
  • Cottage - that sounds like great fun! I just finishing David Baldacci's "memory man", it's a thriller/mystery - my preferred genre. It was really good. I wish I could find a book club here, but I really do need fast paced books with my state-of-brain lately

Cyndi - I'll have to watch and see if anyone answers your questions on series on Netflix. Someone told me a good one, and since I didn't right it down, of course I don't remember it!

Beth - you're like me - why scrape if you don't have to! My DH did buy me a remote starter 2 years ago....Best. Present. EVER.

Today is low key, which is nice after my appointments yesterday. I do have a 30% off coupon at Kohls (!!! ), and I have a few errands otherwise. And although there's a frost out this morning, it's a beautiful day!!

Hope ya'll have a great Tuesday
  • Good Twinkling Tuesday. I twinkled faintly this a.m. and actually went back to sleep for a while.

We are making progress on Mill Christmas preparations and that's a good thing! I'm hoping tomorrow is balmy so I can get those outside lights and garlands done on my own porch. Seems way too early to turn them on but the whole Village is getting ready to turn on for Saturday night. At least the Mill is ready with its 39 wreathes hung and wired ready to go.

I have to go to Council this afternoon to make a presentation for a grant. Of course I'm a tad nervous but think I have my ducks in a row. We are going for a share of Township money for maintenance and repairs for the Old Town Hall. The Township supports several small halls that it actually owns and we'd like a slice of the pie for our Hall. Janitorial and snow removal duties come to mind. (We do have public washrooms and need to be open and accessible for any Village events even when the Mill is closed for the season and also need someone on site when open.)

Sure hope my propane guy delivers today. The dogs and I were a bit chilly in the back room last night. Remind me never to let it run out of propane - now I need to figure out how to re-light the pilot light unless I'm here when Tom delivers and I can bribe him with a coffee to light it for me.

    Twinkle on through Tuesday.
  • Good morning bright and sunny here, but a tad chilly.

Debbie I hope the snow tapers off quickly for you. I've been following it on the news.

Ruth good luck with your presentation. They absolutely should include the mill.

Tammy I'm disappointed my work car doesn't have auto start. My personal car does and I love it. It's worth the money. Hope your day stays uneventful.

Linda glad you enjoyed your book club. Maybe I should try reading before bed to help settle my mind.

Work has been pretty stressful for obvious reasons. I just really have a bad feeling we are going to get attacked soon. Just don't know where, when or how. Very unsettling. The higher I go in rank the more I seem to worry. Yesterday I was at the MTA's HQ (not my department'so HQ) all day to supervise my officers assigned to security screenings. The Inspector who is in charge of the detectives said I looked like I was having a picnic for lunch. He was impressed with my lunch lol. He asked if I take the time to bring my food to work each day. He was amazed that I bring from home. I told him I am so much better when I have a plan.

Now my plan is for more coffee anyone still around to join me?
  • Good morning,

Just got done with my 8 a.m. call. It is raining buckets outside if it was cold enough I think we would be like Debbie with about as much snow. Yesterday at work had to go from one building to another and my umbrella did not really help from the waist down I got soaked and it was a bit chilly.

Today and tomorrow I am wfh and then on Thursday we are leaving for Biloxi for Family reunion on my side. Only one's from my side not there will be my DS and DD1 and one of my nieces kids everyone else will be there for the weekend should be fun.

Beth hope you have a great day

Cottage hope you make quick work of the juniper clean up

Cyndi I watched Season 1 of Jane the Virgin on Netflix it is light fluffy comedy show, I enjoyed it. If you haven't seen Drop Dead Diva all seasons of that are on, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. They are all kinda of quirky shows but I liked them.

Debbie yikes that is a lot of snow, hopefully won't last too much longer, so weird how you really hadn't had a frost until recently and then hit with a ton of snow. My in laws had a tornado hit their town last night but everyone is fine.

Tywnn I used my coupons at Kohls this past weekend ended up a getting a onesie pajama for DD2

Ruth I will wait to tackle the outside lights Thanksgiving weekend. Sounds like your town will look nice on Saturday night

Jekel I think you are not the only one who is worried something is going to happen soon on our soil.

    Have a wonderful day everyone!
