New here. But old in real life. Ha!

  • I'm 54, about 40 pounds overweight. I'm not sure exactly how much as I have refused to step on a scale for years. Dr office is only time I get weighed. Naturally I avoid the dr office... Lol

Gained most during menopause. I fought weight all my life and managed to keep it at bay until the past 5 years. My dieting was always fad diets etc, they worked but probably did not help my health. They don't work after menopause and I don't want to wreck my health with fads. I'm fortunate to have few health issues, I get migraines and have some joint stiffness but otherwise no blood pressure, heart, etc issues.

I've managed this past summer to loose some weight, I estimate about 6-7 lbs over 3 months according to how clothing fits.. I didn't actually strictly diet just cut carbs down and cut sugar out. I've been pleasantly surprised some weight has finally budged since menopause and I don't want to jinx it. Wanted to join here to add a bit of accountability and support to my efforts.

  • Glad to have you here, Lexus! There's a lot of great information around here. Hopefully it can help.

    And 54 is NOT old!
  • Hi Lexus 54 is not old! Good luck on your weight loss journey.
  • Welcome! You're in a great place!
  • yes verry good
  • Lexus, I am 57, soon to be 58, and have successfully lost 45 lbs. in 6 mos. Menopause hit a few years ago. I just eliminated the whites (potatoes, flour, sugar, and rice) and processed foods, except thin sliced lunch meats like turkey. I also am broiling/boiling/grilling/baking instead of frying. I am learning new ways to cook vegetables where I can enjoy them. Mostly I only ate the starchy ones. Haven't been able to exercise much, because of joint issues - spraining ankles, frozen hand and shoulder stuff). Losing the weight will make you have so much more energy. I know if I can do it, so can you! Good luck on your journey!
