Hi! Really need friends & support :)

  • Hello 3fc world, my name is Angela. I'm 26, quirky, outgoing, and well... stuck. Firstly, I'm 20 weeks pregnant so I'm a little limited in what I can do. Being overweight all my life, it has just escalated since I was 20. I've gained about 150 lbs in the past 6 years. The last time I checked the scale I was around 335, so my eyes kind of bulged out of my head when I saw 365 today. I said to myself, enough is enough! Pregnant or not, I'm going to do something about this before I hit 400.

So here I am. I joined here, fitday, and myfitnesspal. Praying it helps. I have discussed this with my doctor as well and have his blessing, as long as I am not cutting calories beyond my recommended daily amount for myself and baby or overexerting. But that doesn't mean I can't make small, positive changes right? Soda? Bye bye! Only water from here on out. I can certainly keep myself from OVER eating and I'm sure 1800 calories in healthy foods will make a difference over 1800 calories in poor choices. And I'll take the stairs when the opportunity arises and try to be more active when I can.

Sounds easy enough... but I know it won't be. That's definitely where the support and friendship comes in to play! A lot of my close friends are at a weight they are happy with or have no interest in losing weight. I don't want to talk their ears off, and I want someone who understands what I'm going through! Any encouraging words is SO helpful and appreciated... this is probably attempt 100 for me and I so badly don't want to fail. Be there for me, and I am definitely here for you! Thanks friends xoxo
  • Welcome! Your plan sounds totally smart. Glad you got your doctor's approval with the little one on board. I just started and also gave up soda. It was tough at first but easy now, after about a month. You can do this!
  • Hi, I am new here too. I check in here at least once a day, so if you ever need someone to chat with, drop me a line. And you are making a step inthe right direction and eating healthy, with a lot of protein will be so good for your baby too =])

(P.S.. I am doing a low fat, low carb diet, high protein diet (no more than 15 grams fat, 65 grams carbs, and 125 grams protein a day) and with it all being healthy foods and I lost 8 pounds this week. I am disabled so I am not very active either, plus I am 56, so hard for me to lose weight but after one week, I lost 8 pounds just by keeping track of what I eat ( I log everything in one myfitnesspal so it keeps track of everything for me). ANyone on myfitnesspal who wants to add me there, my name there is Cikan_Vuz =])
  • Thank you both! Cikan, WTG on the 8 lbs girlfriend! I could definitely use a WL buddy so you feel free to message me any time as well!
  • Welcome! I'm new here too, and you sound very similar to me. Sometimes it seems extra discouraging when the other people you're around that are also trying to lose weight only have 10 pounds or so versus 100 or more, so I totally understand. If you'd like to connect on myfitnesspal, I'd love to get some more active buddies there as in using it too and am using Weight Watchers too (on my own currently though). My username there is ncladee if you'd like to add me! I would love to be pregnant also, so that is one reason for wanting to lose, but just to be healthier in general, lessen the weight on my heel that I broke badly a couple of years ago (and I work on my feet), and to weigh low enough to go ziplining is still good incentive! We can do this! I have faith in us.
  • I'm new too! Just wanted to tell you congrats on the pregnancy, and that you can do this! Part of my reason for finally addressing my health and weight is the HUGE longing to be a momma.
  • Hi Angela! on having a little one on the way! I would think if you just continue to make healthy choices, you will do very well for you and your baby! Good luck!
  • Ncchica - Thank you, that sounds awesome. I could really use friends to help keep me on track. I'll be sure to add you on MFP the next time I log in! You will get to zipline one day girlfriend! And I hope you are able to get pregnant. You got this!

Adventureinhealing - Thank you so much! It really helps to have others encourage me, especially at a time when I just want to eat everything. (I crave the most bizarre things lol!) I hope you reach your weightloss and pregnancy goals! I'm here for you!

Jacqui D - Thank you for the kind words! It looks like you are doing wonderful for yourself, keep it up!
  • Welcome! Today is day one for me as well both to this site and my current food plan. I hear you on needing a place designated for support! Good luck, let's do this thing one step at a time!
