Hey all!

  • I recently came upon this forum and was pretty excited.

My name is Steph, I'm 28 from the great state of Ohio.

I'm currently at my heaviest ever weight and it's incredibly frustrating.

Over the last few years my weight has fluctuated. In high school I was more "curvy" but was an athlete. I played softball/baseball from 4yrs old until I was 17. I injured my knee in a non sports related clumsy fall. (I've always had a history of breaking bones)

Now presently I am 28. And just recently weighed in at 279.
I've always tried different things, watching what I eat, cutting out certain foods. But the weight seems to continue to come. If not more rapidly recently.

This time last year I was down to 190lbs. I was sick, dropping weight rapidly and no one could figure out why. I've lost count at how many doctors and tests they've put me through. In October of last year they took out my gall bladder. I had 6 stones which completely filled my gall bladder. After the surgery I started gaining weight back. And have now surpassed my previous heaviest weight by 30lbs.

After all these tests, they still have no real reason for the health problems I have. I have a b12 deficency and PCOS. (side note: it makes me chuckle to see the b12 weight loss injection commercials because I take 2 injections of it a month and I'm only gaining)

Anyway I am looking for advice on ways to shed these lbs. I want to be happy and healthy.
  • snl8387!! I hope you can find some support here; there are lots of friendly people in the same boat! Good luck!!
  • Welcome to 3FC! I can't imagine how frustrated you must be with your health issues on top of struggling with weight gain.

As for advice, and I have no personal experience with this, I have heard good things about following a ketogenic diet when you have PCOS. Also, intermittent fasting (which I do have experience with, but I don't have PCOS!). Also, some people that combine the two. Since I don't have PCOS and have done zero research on that, I won't go any further than to mention those two diets. I have a friend with a great keto food blog if you're interested, and I have been following IF for two years if you have questions.

Best of luck with whatever route you take but remember, KEEP TRYING. Everyone is different and you just have to keep making changes until you find the thing that works. And even if it works for a few months, you may need to make changes again. Weight loss is HARD. But it is so doable and rewarding. You will find tons of info and support here!
  • Thanks!
I have been looking at the Keto diet. My dislike of it, is being unable to eat fruit. I love fruit but I'm not a huge veggie eater.
However have recently taken up raw carrots and hummus as a snack.
  • snl8387! We have a sub-forum here for threads about PCOS, so be sure to check that out! http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/pcos...ce-support-70/. If you do not want to go keto, maybe just going low-carb or low-glycemic index could help you. I wish you the best!
  • Thanks, I will check it out!
