Hello all! I am on my 4th week of the SBD, and I have to say it is fantastic! I can totally see myself eating like this for the rest of my life. I have been on Atkins before, and managed to lose 85 pounds, but I just could not maintain the lifestyle. I love my carbs too much! I have come to learn that any diet that excludes an entire section of foods does not work for me. If I want eggs on toast, I can have it! Wrap for lunch? Ancient grain tortillas are ok too!
I am learning lots as I go along this path. This is the slowest I have ever lost weight, but I will take ANY loss over nothing at all. 2 pounds per week is totally respectable, and healthy. The first week was a lot, but that was mostly water.
Fortunately, my fiancée is on board, even though he is a slender man. We are tying the knot in 2 months, and at 41 years of age, I want to have many, many, MANY years of bliss with him...but need to be healthy first!
Welcome, Sheepie! I'm glad you are having such success.
SB is meant to be a long-term way of life rather than a quick fix. As you go on, it is perfectly fine to tweak things here and there.
Check out the massive recipe section and join us on the daily thread.
Welcome!
Congratulations on both your upcoming marriage and your weight loss so far!
This is my sixth year both with South Beach diet and this forum. I've had great success and have never felt better in my entire life! I'm finding it works best for me at this point to stick with phase 3 primarily. It's allowing me to maintain my losses and I found that even when I'm not changing it wait this point I still get smaller. I'll take that for sure!
I check in every day and find that is my best key to success! My accountability here always reminds me to be mindful with my two choices.
Best wishes!
Welcome Sheepie wishing you continued success and happiness on your journey both weight loss and marriage.
Beth is right, the recipe section is massive. So many excellent and easy recipes to choose from. I have my favorites I work in to my rotation.
I too love my carbs and won't give up my pizza ever. Hey it is part of being a New Yorker lol. The key is moderation. instead of my weekly pizza now it's maybe once a month. I have been maintaining for a few years without much thought. SB has become my way of life.
Check in often it really does help!
