My name is Danielle and I am way above where I have ever wanted to be. This is my story [insert Law & Order "chung chung" sound].
I got engaged in May of 2014. I was so excited- My fiance and I have been together for over two years now. We're both on the heavier side but I love the way he looks, and he loves the way I look. The issue? We don't love the way we look.
When he asked me to marry him, one of my first thoughts (after the initial excitement and asking several times "is this really happening??") was "Oh, I have SO MUCH time to lose the 80 or so pounds I want to lose. I can take my time." We came up with plans on and off, but never 100% followed through.
Inevitably, I'm completely regretting not sticking with one of those plans. Every time we've gone out, I've justified it with a "oh, there's still time" or "this will be my last meal out for awhile." My fiance and I have started going to the gym together. In all honesty, I don't know how much weight I have lost, if any. The truth is, I'm terrified to weigh myself because I know what a slow process this is, and I don't want to be disappointed.
I love my fiance, but he and I both are each other's worst motivators. We'll go to the gym, but then one of us will say that Chipotle sounds good for dinner, and the other follows suit instead of putting their foot down and saying "NO. No Chipotle. Remember we want to look good for the wedding?"
I'm tired of this. I'm ready to take this on. At this point, 80 pounds is probably too unrealistic (we're getting married in October), but right now the goal is to be down under 200 pounds, because I want to stop being angry with myself for letting it all get so out of hand.

Danielle! I'm glad you joined us! Take a look around, read as much as you can on weight loss, diet, exercise, and the success stories here, and you may find you want to lose weight for other reasons in addition to your wedding, and that motivation may help keep you on track, even past October!
I don't know of anyone who can lose 80 lbs by October, lol, but coming close to 30 lbs is a possibility! (I've lost 26 since May!) I do want to warn you, please don't resort to any quick fad diets. They are unhealthy and can cause your hair to fall out!
Just choose a healthy plan, whether it's organized like Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig, low-carb like Atkins or slow-carb like the one I'm on, or simply counting calories, which is a tried and true method! Keep up the exercise! But do keep in mind, weight loss is 80% diet and only 20% exercise, so you will need to focus on what you eat. I wish you the very best, and
on your upcoming nuptials!
