Petite Wedding Dresses?

  • Is there such a thing? The only ones I've seen are the really old styles from the 2000's and I'd really like something up to date that I don't have to spend hundreds of dollars on to get it shortened.

Being 4'11 I know 99% of styles aren't vertically challenged friendly.
  • I don't think so - I'm 5ft, and just got married, so I get it! It's just one more alteration to add in, or you can go with a non-traditional style (I did, and it was so much cheaper).
  • I wish I had the guts to go with something non-traditional but you know, parents have their say since they're helping us with the wedding and all. It's a little ridiculous actually...

I get it when parents are a little too involved with the planning. My mom and I butt heads a few times when it came to the invites, but other than that, it was fine. It's my second marriage - the first one I didn't care enough to plan much of anything so it was really traditional other than the church. It was a country club wedding on a golf course with all the traditional food, etc.

This one, we rented an island for the weekend and it was on the beach and definitely more relaxed. We did our toasts in a gazebo and decorated everything with "natural" decorations - sticks/rocks/candles inside vases, burlap, etc and our bar was on an outdoor fireplace/patio. My daughter walked me down the aisle and we served a soup bar, salad bar, taco bar, and 5 kinds of chicken wings, then had a full breakfast with omelette and belgian waffle stations the next day. Everyone was invited to stay over and we had boat rides and some people even camped out. It was AMAZING!

I put some pics on another thread HERE
  • You look so beautiful! Congratulations! That sounds so beautiful and very private, very nice!

JCrew actually carries a line of wedding dresses and makes Petite sizes. I believe David's Bridal might also carry a petite line.
