WW App NOT WORKING AGAIN!!!

  • Thread title says it all... I'm really starting to get annoyed... I mean this seems to happen ALL THE TIME...

I'm really considering quitting WW over this... If I wasn't so close to achieving Lifetime status I probably would... Although I'm not so sure what good Lifetime Membership will be if the stupid app is so buggy all the time...

    It's just so FRUSTRATING!!!

    Sorry just needed to vent...
  • What kind of phone do you have? Also have you tried rebooting your phone to see if that helps? I was having the same issue with mine and as long as I reboot it after an update it works fine. If I forget to then I might as well forget tracking because it won't work!

Thanks for the tip... I have an iPhone and iPad that I have the apps on... I just get so annoyed, especially because I almost never have a problem with MFP and I just think why can't WW get it together and be as easy to use as that... Not to mention MFP is free...
  • The value of Lifetime membership is how weighing in monthly helps you with maintaining your weight loss. My husband has been lifetime for over a year and he never uses the app or the online etools. Well, never is too strong. He doesn't use them often. He never tracked on them. He used MFP when he tracked. He is now about 7 or 8 pounds under his goal weight and isn't tracking any more.

But, lifetime membership is still valuable to him because he goes and weighs in each month. If he weighs in and is up a couple of pounds -- which has happened, then he dials back the eating a bit the next month and then loses what he has gained. I'm not sure that would happen so well if he wasn't a lifetime member.

And, the free meetings are valuable to him. He helps him to stay focused on maintaining his weight loss.

I'm close to getting back to goal (I'm already lifetime) and don't use the app hardly at all. I track on MFP (I do use the WW website to record my points I've eaten and to check my activity points).

I guess what I'm saying is that the WW app or etools online are nothing all that special. What is special about WW is the meeting and the weekly weigh in (monthly for lifetime members at goal).
  • Makes me laugh I love weight watchers but I do think its expensive 45.00 bucks a month for everything and the app doesn't freakin work literally 50% of the time I end up getting booted off when im trying to do something

    ^^^THIS^^^

EXACTLY.... For $45 a month I don't think it's too much to ask for to have an app that actually WORKS...

I mean I love WW too... BUT they really have to get it together, especially around this issue... I know that they are in financial trouble, but with these kinds of ongoing "issues" they just aren't going to be able to compete when there are free apps that do it better... I'm sorry but I just don't think "weighing in" and a "meeting" are worth that much... If I'm paying $45 bucks a month... THEN I WANT TO GET ALL OF WHAT I PAYING FOR...

My membership goes through July... At this point I'm not sure I'm going to "re-up"... If I wasn't so close to earning "Lifetime" membership I probably wouldn't based on all the various annoyances I've had to deal with this time around with WW...
  • I hate the app. It fails all the time. It's very frustrating and de-motivating too. Like I finally get the motivation to track consistently, which takes a lot of doing sometimes, and the app doesn't work.

I'm currently doing paper tracking but referring to eTools on occasion.

It's really annoying because I want to just go to meetings. I love my meeting and the people there, and I mostly just want to have the accountability of being weighed by another human being. But there are no plans online for that, and there are so many rules if you want to just go to meetings. I was baffled when I asked the receptionist about it about a month ago. You can do WW online only, but they make it almost impossible to do meetings only.

So the best deal seems to be the monthly plan, regardless of whether you actually use the eTools or not. I wish they would figure out how to make it work all the time or else stop forcing it on everyone.
  • You can use eTools on the computer and not just the phone app. I personally like the monthly pass since it is cheaper than paying for individual in person meetings. I've cancelled my monthly pass since I finally got back to within 2 pounds of goal. If I go above though I will have to pay the meeting fee. The pay as you go meeting fees are really expensive compared to monthly pass.
  • Koshka, I know eTools works better on the computer but the computer just isn't as convenient as a phone app. I sit at a computer all day at work, so that's fine, but I don't want to go near a computer at night!
  • You aren't paying $45 a month just for the app. The other benefits are far more valuable.

That is true, I just wish there were a discount for people that wanted to pay the monthly fee but not access the app or eTools. And when you are counting on something to work that you are paying for, it should work.
  • I think part of this is a remnant of the philosophical reason for the monthly fee. Back when I joined WW in 1988, the only way to pay was to pay weekly. If you missed a week, when you came in the next week you had to pay for the week you missed. The idea was to make it where you had an incentive not to miss since you had to pay if you didn't come. And, this did work. If you did miss several meetings, though, it was cheaper to just rejoin.

After a time, though, they used to offer books of coupons where you could buy 12 meetings (or something like that) for a discount of usually a couple of dollars a week. I used to buy these. Of course, if you missed weeks you had to spend the coupons for the mixed week.

I think that they ought to offer a similar option like this online. You buy a coupon book and don't get any access to etools, but can attend meetings.

That said, I suspect the cost of that would be almost as much as the monthly pass is now. Most is the monthly pass cost is already for the meetings.
