Memorial Day May 25 daily chat

  • Morning, chicks! I've got coffee and a day off. Who's awake?
  • Happy Memorial Day to the American chicks!

Today looks to be rainy so I'm glad we grilled the last 2 nights and didn't plan to do it today. On the other hand, the garden would be thankful for some moisture. It has been extremely dry this month. DH and I planted almost all the veggies yesterday (just need to find a random corner for the acorn squash and pumpkins) so a soaking rain would be awesome.

And if it rains I will do inside niggles like cleaning and menu planning. I've only got a week to make my weight loss goal so I need to be OP this week.

    What's on everyone else's agenda?
  • Good morning, Beth, and thanks for starting us up. We have the same rain here but I did not get my plants or seeds done this weekend. I had great plans but the crowds at the Mill kept me hopping. Today I need to go over there early and do an inventory of flour plus count the money and do the bank deposit.

This afternoon, I am definitely going for tea at Betty's house. She has yet more memorial donations for the quilting group and I need to get them receipted and into the bank before June 1...and that's next week!

Tomorrow I was supposed to attend a day-long planning session for an event to be held in June 2016 but said I was unavailable. That should be a "ME" day and is supposed to be sunny and warm.

Thanks for the reminder about weightloss goals this month. I have been remiss in paying attention. I find when I'm not feeling well pasta and other carbs creep in and I've noticed my summer things are a bit snug although I weigh a bit less than a year ago. It may be time to go lower carb.

Enjoy the last day of your Memorial Long Weekend, American chicks. Coming up in just over a month - Canada Day and Independence Day. Yahoo!
  • Good morning DH is working today so I have a day of gardening and yard stuff ahead. Still no rain in our forecast and it is pretty dry here. I want to put my plants in but am debating waiting until after the forecasted thunderstorms Wednesday. Every time we've had rain n the forecast this spring it has fizzled out before getting here, so hard to decide. We added another new bed this weekend, so my first chore is figuring out the garden plan incorporating the new bed

Beth - Extra squash is causing challenges here too I planted some old spaghetti squash and delicata seeds. Looks like they all sprouted so now I feel I need to plant them

Ruth - Hooray for Me days!

I was happy to see the scale slide down a wee bit this morning. I'm not going to make my goal, but at least it's moving in the right direction again
  • Happy Memorial Day!

Nice to have an extra day off! It rained last night and may today but we are going to barbeque today. Got everything yesterday and just never did.

Have a wonderful Memorial day and remember what the Holiday is for.
  • Good morning. I "took one on the chin" yesterday - literally. Slipped on the wet deck while letting out DS's dog and landed on my chin. I'm patched up now but it is still sore and hurts to swallow. So am off to the gym with my mom despite a huge decorative bandage.

Having my brother and his family over later so they can visit with DS. Will spend my day on my travel album. Still learning the ins and outs of the new photo software.

    Have a great day.
  • Happy Memorial Day, USA Chicks!

We had our BBQ celebration yesterday, so today is for relaxing although we've already been up to my Dad's to plant 2 flats of petunias and my DS took down a half dead Crepe Myrtle in his front yard. But the rest of the day is mine, and we have plenty of leftovers for supper.

Karen, ouchie, that sounds quite painful! I hope it heals soon!

Pearlrose, send some of that rain this way, please! We need it badly!

Cyndi, have a nice gardening day! And thanks for the link to the bean burgers. It does sound worth trying.

Ruth, I hope you get to have a "ME" day today, and enjoy the tea at Betty's!

Beth, yay for getting your garden planted and I hope you get the soaking rain to give everything a good start!
  • Home from work. It was a very busy day! It didn't rain today! Amazing! I wish I had a little energy transplant some flowers but for right now I'll just put my feet up and see what happens. It sounds like everyone had a great day!

Karen, I hope you heal quickly! Ouch!
