Hi,
I just started Ideal Protein and this the first time I've been on I diet. I'm trying to lose 50-60 pounds (5ft 175 currently). I know Rome wasn't built in a day and this will take time. Not seeing results can be discouraging. Can someone share when they started noticing a weight change in themselves, when other people noticed? How long did it take? What changes did you notice and I want point ? I'm impatient but I think this might help me break it down and not focus on the bigger picture.
Thanks
When I was at my heaviest weight, 350 no one noticed until I lost close to a 100 lbs. A few years ago I was back up to 250 and am 5'10''. I noticed it in myself that first 20 lbs (mainly just my pants being a bit looser) no one else noticed though. It wasn't until I lost 50 lbs everyone started complimenting me. It got better as I got closer to goal. I suddenly understood what it meant to lose even those last 5 lbs and for it to be significant. At that point even losing a few lbs equaled dropping a size. I'm working on getting back to that now. The compliments were nice but nothing beat my own thrill of getting into a pair of pants in a size I thought would never fit. Good luck!
Only my wife was aware of my WOE and she noticed subtle difference around 30lbs down. This was also the same time when i noticed going down a notch on my belt. Comments from everyone else started around 90lbs/100lbs down. I had a lot to lose though...
I see you are 5', people will probably start noticing at 20 lbs. For me as I'm taller, I had to lose more. The first person noticed around 35 lbs, she is a relative who sees me every week or so. The first person who doesn't see me often noticed at 45 lbs.
People tend to notice weight loss more if they don't see you every day. The change is so gradual to the folks who see you daily, they might not notice for quite a while. On the other hand, a relative who hasn't seen you since Christmas would probably be blown away because they're still carrying that mental picture of you on Christmas Day.
A good way to make your friends notice is to get a flashy new outfit!
There was an analogy I learned that has turned out to be true. Weight loss is like a paper towel roll. You don't really notice the difference until you're down to the very end of the roll.
People didn't start noticing on me until I had lost about 100lbs and then I started getting compliments around the 125lb weight loss mark.
I am starting back up again, but in the past usually people noticed it before I did. What I look for is my clothing fitting better. Once that happens I know my body is making good changes.
I'm short and people tend to notice around 5lbs, 10 for sure!
