Tuesday Chattering on SBD, 2/24

  • Coffee's on, and I need it good and hot on this sub-zero morning! Winter may be nearly over, but it still holding it's grip.

I have nothing much to talk about this morning. Just a normal Tuesday, but I guess that's a good thing. Food has been going well but there's been too much ice to get out for my daily walk.

Anything exciting happening for anyone today?
  • OMG - the kids have a school delay, AGAIN! I guess if it's below zero, they have a delay. Someone said because of the busses. I joked if they delayed school every time we were below zero, I wouldn't have graduated yet!!

I have a little testing today for my condition, and then I'm meeting a friend for lunch. We have a FABULOUS place with 6 gourmet style soups. They always have the smoked tomato bisque, and butternut squash soup, which are beyond amazing. Last time, they also had a low cal kale chicken soup, which was amazing. They also have 6 salads/sides, which includes black bean salad and marinated mushrooms. Mmmmmmm....

I need a refill on my coffee! Anyone else?
  • I'm on my 2nd refill, Tammy. Your soup place sounds similar to a new place that opened up near me called "Zoup." Their tomato bisque is to-die-for!
Good luck on your testing today!
  • Just up and have my coffee in hand so I'll pass. I seem to be out of this early awakening stage and so are the dogs. I wake in the night for potty and then go back to sleep. I think Cuba fixed my internal clock glitch. The dogs are still in their beds when I come downstairs.

The weather is sooo strange. Another extreme cold was predicted but it's 1ºF right now and going to a balmy 19ºF today. Strange how warm that feels after so many arctic mornings.

Today I have to drive partway to Ottawa to give some financial papers to the national treasurer from Victoria's Quilts. Nice lady but she should have told me before yesterday. She's going to Florida to work on the annual report TOMORROW. I agreed to meet her halfway.

I'll check out a big hardware store when I'm there for drop sheets, brushes, rollers etc. since my darling "girls" are going to paint the livingroom on Sunday. Actually Karen and Heather will be the painters and Joanne will be the decorator and hang my pictures - she hates painting but has an artist's eye. I think I'll make a big pot of soup au pistou for lunch.

Have to leave in an hour so will throw myself through the shower and crank up the day. This afternoon is all mine and I may use it to get my sewing area back in order. Michelle come to clean on Thursday and major tidying is needed.

Happy Tuesday, chickies, Spring really is coming! My daughter tells me the trees are in flower in Nanaimo!
  • Good morning,

Nothing new on my agenda either, wfh today and DD2 has a volleyball game.

Cottage I know I agree that when it gets in the 30's we think its a heat wave right now lol

Tywnn that place sounds yummy and op

Ruth enjoy your free afternoon to yourself

    Have a wonderful day everyone!
  • Good morning.

Cold here too. I'm so over it!!!

Tammy - That place sounds wonderful.

I've got another pilates session with SIL and mom today. I work the closing shift for one of my coworkers tonight. In between I intend to make great progress on our travel journal. I have a draft done but need to now go back and wordsmith, etc. Then I have to go through photos and eventually merge the two into a book. I am very into the ones that you can print online instead of the scrapbooks I used to do.

    Keep warm.
  • Catching up while on lunch. Wish I was having lunch with Tammy today. Is it a local place or a chain?
  • Late to the party again; seems to be my MO these days. Takes all my concentration to get out the door in the morning and then I try to make my afternoon workout the priority before supper. So now I'll take my coffee in decaf form.

Jennifer, I'm with you; lunch with Tammy sounds good. The tomato bisque sounds awesome.

Had to stop on the way home today and pick up a baby gift. There is a shower for one of the teachers after school tomorrow. It's been a loooong time since I've been to one; does that mean I'm old??

Ruth, several towns around the North Country are having problems with the village water pipes freezing; one mayor said the frost is currently at a depth of 5 feet!! I guess a couple of towns are asking people to leave the faucets dripping.

Ok, time to get my coffee and relax for a bit before bed. Have a great evening, all.
  • Mmmmmmm, chicks. Even better than I described! My friend hadn't been there, she really enjoyed it. She had the butternut squash soup for dessert as an excuse to have a second cup!
