Marvy Monday, SBD Chat, Feb 23

  • Good Morning

    Coffee is on!

I had one more day of peace and quiet because Kirks DD didn't read itinerary right and he missed his flight. She rebooked him on a flight getting into Denver at 11pm and I said please cancel and I'll work something out when I get home. I work at 530 this morning and the numbers just didn't crunch. lol He arrives at 330 this afternoon and perhaps the roads will be better by then, too.

As usual, nothing exciting in my neck of the woods.

What's on your agenda today? Stop and chat
  • I'm in line for the coffee, Debbie, and thanks for getting it started! I'm glad you found a flight for your DH that works better with your schedule.
  • Whew, yes Debbie - that would've been terrible! Glad he got rebooked, hope he didn't pay a fortune to do it.

Good morning Linda and all to follow...

DD just got out of the shower, guess it's my turn. Going to work for a bit, same stuff, different day (not quite how my momma said it, but in a public forum....)...

Having roasted chicken for dinner tonight....mmmmmm....
  • good morning Tammy and Linda!

The damage wasn't too bad once I got home to figure things out. Before I got off work, they rebooked the Southwest flight with points for 32,000 points which is two roundtrips. I wasn't going to do that. I canceled that flight and Southwest refunded all of the points, including The 8500 for the flight he missed. I found him a one-way on US Airways for $200. That was a pretty easy fix!
  • Good Monday morning, Debbie, Linda and Tammy - the last Monday of interminable February. We'll sure be glad to see the end of this one.

Debbie, glad Kirk's return trip worked out. Isn't flying on points wonderful!

Linda, despite the cancellation of the Red Hat event, I hope your weekend went well. The "girls" at the dinner last night were asking about you.

Tammy, I hope your time at work is not too tiring. I thought of you last night when I dealt with a dog with a bleeding paw - not mine but a victim of Heather's too assertive nail clipping.

Aside from the poor dog's paw, last nights summer family supper was just great. The kids were happy, the grilled burgers and potato salad were a nice change and the ice cream sandwiches for dessert were appreciated. To quote Eric, "I looove junk food"! Next "family" dinner is here on the Sunday after St Patrick's Day. Maybe some of the snow will be gone by then - I live in hope!

My tidy and purge continues today. Is there any reason why I have four big turkey platters? I think I am going to get the local antique dealer in to do some "shopping"since I have my cutting table loaded with "reject" china and crystal. The market's not good right now but he may buy some of it.

So nice to see the sunshine today although we are still well below 0ºF. My car and I are probably going to go to town today or tomorrow and look for some walking shoes. Right now the only walking that happens is in yak-tracks.

Stay cozy and warm as much as you can. This is the home stretch!
  • Good morning We are very sleep deprived around here. Both DH and DP had rough nights and I was awake with both. Hope today is better for everyone.
Another week, another potential set of meetings and job answers. At this point I really just want to know what the upper pay graders are looking at for timing. Not that they ever ask me

Need to get a few things done before the Monday morning call. One of them is loading a bag of very warm things for the car. It's too cold to be unprepared!

Counting down to March's promise of spring
  • Good morning,

Today is my in office today, I have all my 1:1 with my staff to do and then I plan to work the rest of the week from home so I can finish projects I need to take care of. Plus not so much walking on the ankle, always hurts if I walk too much.

Debbie glad you were able to find a cheap flight and not waste so many points.

Cottage hope you have a good day and it is not too cold, it is in the negatives here

Tywnn hope your day at works goes well....had to laugh at your mom's saying so true at times lol

Ruth glad you had a good "family" dinner and everyone enjoyed themselves

Cyndi I hope they are able to give you a timeline helps you be better prepared.

    Have a great day everyone!
  • Good morning

Debbie. Glad everything worked out with dhs flight.

Tammy and Linda. Hope your day is easy.

Ruth. 4 turkey trays! I guess you could start your own antique store.

Cyndi hope things settle down for you soon.

Pearlrose. Glad you can stay of your foot

Had a vrry long dental appointment on Friday, when will it end? Spent Saturday cooking for ds2 oscar get together and yesterday was just lazy ending the day watching downton abbey. Still haven't touched the triscuts.
    take care
    Sophie
  • Good morning: after such a "balmy" weekend (although it really felt that way) we're back to freezing here. This winter has been absolutely brutal. Can't wait until I retire and I can become a snowbird! Ha ha. Trying to get myself back on track with food and exercise. Hope everyone has a great day.
  • Hello, chicks. Been to the gym today and grocery store. Finished fast-forwarding through the Oscars. Saw this post with lots of links for cauliflower crust recipes. Just put some veggies in the oven to roast for my afternoon snack. Feel the urge to relax with my feet up!
  • Evening, chicks. Busy first day back after vacation. I was feeling rushed to get out on time this morning and then I had to make time to clean off the car since it snowed overnight. (I. will. not. complain....)

Cold but I love the sunshine and the longer daylight. We are making progress to spring!

Meatball casserole for dinner tonight; yum!! I'm doing my best to resist having a glass of wine.

    Have a great evening, all!
