How to know accurately how much Calories you need?

  • Is it possible to find out exactly how much was your caloric requirement for a day? Is there any equipment that can give an exact measurement?
  • Myfitnesspal.com will give you your daily allowance based on height, weight, and how much you want to lose. I don't think it's exact science but it's close enough since it works for a lot of people.
  • novangel nailed it. I use myfitnesspal.com. You will have to input your current weight and height and then your goal weight. It will punch out a number for your hat you should try and stick with.
  • I think the fitbit and jawbone tracks how many calories you burn a day

  • Thanks, all.

I tried fitbit.com. I have to still get used to the logging mechanism. Has a lot of food choices, so I'm confident I'll find out my unique food varieties there!

    Will try myfitnesspal next.
  • I have a Fitbit and a Bodymedia armband (now owned by Jawbone). The armband is dead on for calorie burn. The Fitbit is about 15-20% too low for me, meaning it reports 15-20% less calories than I actually burned. If I went by the Fitbit I'd be emaciated by now. I've had the armband for 6 or 7 years and it has been a fabulous tool

I don't log my calories eaten on Fitbit or Jawbone. MyNetDiary is my choice for logging what I eat.
