  • Good Morning

Coffee is on! I definitely need some!

I switched with my coworker so I wouldn't be the early bird today.....work at 630am. Kids and ex-wife still here and we are making the best of things. DH bailed yesterday and went back to Glenwood. That works, since I really think he needs a breather before my sis flies in for her treatment on Wednesday. We've been eating healthy and it's nice having cooking help. Jean made a pot of split pea soup for dinner last night and we added a yummy spinach salad. Tonight might be my healthy mac and cheese. I have all the ingredients and it's easy to make.

I'm off to enjoy more coffee while I plod along and get my morning chores finished.

    Happy Monday everyone!
  • Wow, Debbie, sounds like you've got quite the emotional week going on. Good for you for keeping your meals as healthy as you can, that helps with those emotional swings.

The kids just had school called off, so they're off with me today. I overdid it Saturday, so was a lump o' nothin' yesterday...and I hope I don't push it too much with them today! DD decided she wanted a fish, so she's proving to me how responsible she is...let's see how much she helps today! I plan on having DS shovel for daddy. And it's DH's birthday! DS even made him an omelet for breakfast, his current specialty.

I'm supposed to start back work in a week, even if it's only 2 hrs/day (with 2 hrs/driving). I'm a bit scared, since I was so wiped from Saturday. LOL...papa (FIL) asked what I did to wipe me out....shaved my legs! HAHAHAHA (I did do other stuff too, but it was funny...) Anyway, I have to go back sometime, and next week is 8 weeks.

Time to start gathering as many quick, inexpensive, and healthy meals as I can!!
  • Debbie, "Great will be your reward in heaven" to misquote the Bible. Isn't that just like a man to bail! It sounds like you two women are very together.

Tammy, please don't push yourself. I know you are impatient to get back to normal but you must give it time.

The last Monday of January! Hard to believe! East Coasters, stay safe and warm when the snowstorm hits. There is a lot of hype about it - worst storm in over 100 years, etc! As my Scottish friend says "I hae me doots!"

Another busyish but fun weekend with lots of drop ins - all with dogs. If nothing else, Angus will be well socialized when he goes home. I was online earlier and it was nice to have a warm dog lying on my feet on a -18ºF morning. Jazz and Millie snoozed on the couch.

I got the darned Usa Chan rabbit ready for his head yesterday. To figure out how to do it, I had to cut another paper pattern and tape the pieces together to figure it out. Head and ears are now ready to be attached. I can't believe how difficult this was - I used to do costume design and could make Elizabethan ruffs, "pumpkin pants" and cod-pieces using just a picture!

Today I plan to finish the blasted rabbit, make a big pot of chicken stock and pack some more books and diningroom stuff. Michelle had a cancellation and will be here Thursday afternoon which will be a huge help. Karen's coming one evening to sort through the cookbooks which I'm downsizing - everything is on the Net these days. Now I just need to find a home for my cassettes.

Time for another coffee before I leap into action.
  • Good morning I have moved on to tea this morning but more coffee always sounds good!

Debbie - I'd love to see your mac and cheese recipe. I scored 12 lbs of brown rice and quinoa pasta at the local discounteria and am enjoying small portions of pasta again. So glad you have support and company through this.

Tammy - When is the snow supposed to start there? Bet the kids are excited.

Ruth - Chicken stock, thanks for the reminder! I know what you mean about cookbooks. I collected them for years and still have one long shelf of my favorites. Truth is I never even look at them anymore though. Pinterest is my new cookbook collection and it takes up less space.

Looks like this will be a work form home week to start. that's okay with me, plenty to get done around here while working. I'm picking out a good veggie stew for dinner. It's obviously the perfect weather for it I just broke down and turned the heat up because it just isn't getting warmer than 63 in here this morning. There is no way I'm getting in the shower at that temperature THe storm looks like a typical Nor'easter around here. Only 15-18 predicted. I've got the plow guy on call for two plows because Tim has to work at 3 tomorrow, right in the middle of the mess. I'm a lake effect snow girl from way back so the pantry is always stocked.

I think I need to bake something too, not sure what but something. I do love WFH days.
  • Good morning,

I had a bad off plan eating yesterday evening but am back on track today, didn't sleep well which always happens when I am off plan. Busy day today with meetings and interviews hoping to fill my 3 open position by end of day.

Debbie you are a rock. Glad you are able to stay op throughout this

Twynn are you going to have to drive 2 hours just to do 2 hours of work? Not able to do from home?

Ruth glad you are getting close to having the rabbit done you will have to post a picture when complete.

Cyndi I hope it is not as much snow as they are predicting. Glad I am going west instead of east on Saturday.

Nothing on the agenda for this evening. Have a good day everyone
  • Usa Chan and mine is an exact copy! Yippee!

I slathered coconut oil on my poor dry legs today and needed to get my pants on fast! Three dogs wanted to lick my legs! I live in a zoo!
  • Morning Chicks!

I hope you all stay warm and safe...wish we were getting some of this weather but DC seems to be in a snow hole. Boo!

Debbie - great job!! I admire your strength!
Twynn - working remotely isn't an option?
    Ruth - downsize away!
Cyndi - I have to visit to get snowed in with you. My MIL is in FL right now or she'd be getting slammed. Well, I guess her house still is!
Pearl- Glad you got back on track! That's the hardest part...

As for me, still typing with one hand (mostly). Had a MRI done Friday and find out Wed if I did anything. I think it's probably torn? But not broken as they originally thought. I have the CD and plan to self diagnose!

Stay safe y'all and hi to all chicks who check in later!
  • Just wanted to stop by and say hi. Busy day at work today, meeting afterwards, came home and did my workout while dinner was in the oven (mock cornbread w/ beef- yum!). I am finally sitting down to catch up on the news.

Cold here this morning but the snow will miss us. DS2 is in the think of it at school; hope the dorms/college don't lose power. To all the chicks in the middle of the storm: be smart and stay safe and warm.

Ruth, I need to take a hint from you on materialism. I just bought some new dishes.....as if I need more stuff!

Pearl, I planned an eating out cheat the other night; the important thing is to put it behind you and jump back in.

Jenne, hope that hand feels better soon.

Cyndi, last winter I bought an electric tower style heater. Since I really only need the bathroom to be warm for 15 minutes in the morning I turn it on rather than the furnace. The bathroom is so small it warms up quickly.

Ok, off to make a cup of decaf.
