Friday Chatting on SBD, 1/23

  • TGIF, and can you believe January is almost over?!!! One month closer to SPRING!

I can't complain about my week, it was pretty easy with only 1 full day of work, but I'm still glad it's Friday. I do have to go pick up the girls after school and take them to a riding clinic this afternoon, but all I have to do is drop them off and then I can head on home again. Other than that, it's the usual Friday routine of tidying the house, laundry, errands, and spending some time with my Dad.

We're expecting a 'N Easter overnight, and could have 6" of snow by this time tomorrow morning! I do enjoy a good snowstorm as long as I don't have to drive in it, so I hope it happens. I do have a luncheon planned with my group of "Sea Sisters", but we'll play it by ear.

So how's everyone day shaping up? Anyone have exciting plans for the weekend?
  • Hi Linda and Beachers to follow. I sure wish we could have coffee this morning as the Keurig is behaving itself this morning so come and sit. I even have a flavour selection although I am not keen on flavoured coffee - unless it's Baileys.

I know it's Friday but this has been such a busy week, today feels like Saturday. Our Mill planning session went very well yesterday. Our Board is golden - smart people who all get along - not a slacker in the lot which is not true of several other boards I'm on. Apparently deadwood floats!

Angus Pup arrived yesterday and is settling into being part of the pack. I have to remember he is just a puppy although he is bigger than my two. He's very needy and seems to have bonded to me already. Lisa has had many dogs but never a puppy and treated him a lot like a baby, letting him sleep with her. (To me that's a no-no although I did succumb to Jazz's charms for a while after Disney departed.) There were a couple of puddles in the back room this morning. Apparently pee-pee pads are for ripping into small bits instead of a different use. It was good to know I still have my quick clean-up skills. Sorry! TMI, I'm sure.

Not sure what today will bring although I plan to keep plugging away at year-end accounting stuff. No weekend plans because of the dog situation. I may do a bit of a shoe foraging since Joanne told me the high-end shop two towns away sells Sketchers! Worth a 30 minute drive!

Hope your TGIF is shaping up well and you can just glide into the weekend. No exciting plans here and I kind of like it that way these days. We have no snow in the forecast and I hope it stays that way. (Deep freeze returns next week.)
  • Good morning chicks!

Sounds like a great week, Linda! I do love some pretty snow too, we're not predicted to get anything this weekend, but we'll see what happens. I was hoping the snow would get it all out of it's system while I wasn't driving to work, but I don't think that'll happen! Enjoy lunch with dad.

Ruth - I bet all those pups love camping at your house! Glad to hear you have a good board, that makes a huge difference.

I got a couple of errands done yesterday and cut it off so I wouldn't pay too hard today. I am tired (hmmmm, one of my morning naps?), but hoping I'll be okay to go to the mall later and get DH's present. And some shoes! No one seems to have good brown shoes right now. Ahhh, the trials of life! (LOL)

I guess I should figure out what's for dinner as well. I'm great at planning out the week, and slack on the weekends. What's with that?
  • Good morning Linda we are getting the snow too, 5-8" expected for my area. We are not supports start getting dumped until the wee hours of the morning. Enjoy your pretty view.

Ruth Coconut used to shred the wee wee pads too. Thankfully that stopped. Have fun with your house pup.

Tammy what are you getting DH for his birthday? Keeping my fingers crossed you find shoes that work for you.

DS has decided to go full time. He will deal with paying for health insurance. My plan will become secondary which should help with co-pays, deductibles etc. Last night he applied online for Metro North Rail Road conductor trainee exam. Starting pay is 25.89 per hour which is really great. We will help him if he decides to go back to school. DS needs to mature and show he is vested in his education before that happens.

Today is the GI doc follow up. I was supposed to go three months after being on Linzess for a colonoscopy. Oops! I'm sure this time he won't let me forget lol Haha maybe I woukd see the scale go down from the prep.

I'm not stressing about not losing. I've upped the intensity of my rides and think I may not be eating enough calories to see a loss. I do notice my thighs are getting less jiggly so I'll take it. I'm hovering at goal so I can't complain.

Oh Ruth if your Keurig gets temperamental do you flush it with white vinegar and change the filter? Mine was being a real pain. Did all the internet tricks and still nothing. Then finally I found a site which said to burp the Keurig. Basically turn it upside down and smack the heck out of it. Amazingly it actually worked after a few burps. I'll admit I had not done anything for mine until it started giving me trouble. No coffee one morning in my travel mug is a huge problem for me......geeze all this coffee talk makes me want a second cup....anyone else ready for a refill?
  • Good morning!

I stayed up late then slept late. Thank goodness. Kirk's ex-wife is staying with us for a while so I just woke her up and we are headed for coffee. Today I will try and get some of my own stuff done while working on some stuff with her.
    Have a great day everyone!
  • A filter? There's a filter to change? I'll try the burp idea too.

Tammy, Angus just ripped apart the Ottawa phone book. Thank God for the Internet! It's been a while since I had a puppy. I got Jazz when he was five months old and past that stage. How soon we forget what puppies are really like! No wonder they are always adorable and easy to forgive!

Jekel, I've had that procedure many times and always saw a slight blip up in weight. I think that IV fluid is loaded with salt.
  • Good morning,

Getting ready for my 8 a.m. call so this will be quick flyby. Looks like everyone is doing well...no snow for us this weekend so those that are getting enjoy.

Plan today is to make broccoli cheese soup, I got all the ingredients to make.

    Stay safe and warm
  • Good morning

Linda. Hope your day works out as planned. I too wish for some snow. I keep telling a friend of mine who is spending winter down south till the end of feb that we are waiting for her to come back to have some good storms.

Ruth. Sounds like you are in puppyland.

Jennifer. It must feel good to see that son is making some plans.

Tammy. Hope you find a nice present for dh and shoes for yourself.

Pearlrose. May your day go by quickly.

Debbie. Its nice to see that all the family is pitching in during the crisis.

yesterday was a stressful day, dh went to get the results of his yearly cardio tests. Everything is fine but I was stressing out till he came home. I think its more of a stress test for me than him, lol. I'm feeling better and planning to go to dd next week. Dh is coming with me and wants to celebrate his 74th birthday with his grandsons and then coming home while I stay on for awhile. Not sure what this weekend will bring.
    take care
    Sophie
  • Good morning!!

Linda - What a lovely first sentence you posted this morning and your second sentence is just as beautiful!! Thank you for the positive start!!!

Ruth - Puppies are so awesome except for those not so adorable moments. Sending you strength to survive those not so moments.

Tammy - Glad you are doing well! Good luck with the shoe shopping!!

Jennifer - I’ll take that refill you are offering! And…YAY for less jiggly thighs!!

Debbie - Enjoy your coffee and wishing for another normal day for you!

Pearlrose - That soup sounds great!

Sophie - Thank goodness your DH passed his test! I know what you mean about it’s more of a stress test for us. I’m a born worrier!!

So thankful today is Friday!! This was a short week at work and next week will be shorter so I’m feeling the stress of trying to get things done. No big plans for this weekend other than finishing up a sundress I’m making to take on our cruise and just general cleaning around the house. I like coming home to a clean house after a trip so I always try to do some extra stuff before we leave. I have bunco tonight at church so I’m looking forward to that. If you’ve never played before, it takes zero skill and you can pretty much play without even paying real attention. It’s mostly just time to visit and meet new friends. As I shared in the on plan thread I am giving myself a hands off order on the candy bowls they place on the tables. I will wait until the cruise to indulge in something yummy!

I hope everyone has a great day and that those of you in the path of the big storm stay safe and warm!
