31 Day Sugar Detox

  • So, I've been thinking about going on a sugar detox for awhile now. I just really want to do it and get it over with it, just because I keep thinking about it and it's driving me nuts. I really think above all us it could help with my skin problems. I was totally freaked out about trying it, because for the first three days it's very restrictive. And I just hate eggs in the morning… it just doesn't excite me. But! After combing through the book, I think I found acceptable things for the first day. Here they are:

Breakfast: Chia pudding: unsweetened coconut milk plus chia seeds
Yay! I don't have to deal with eggs in the morning

Lunch: Separated salad with bell peppers, cucumbers, greens, and balsamic vinegar/dijon mustard salad dressing and 1/4 cup chickpeas
Yay! I am excited about: bell peppers, mustard, and balsamic… for some reason I thought that these things would be off the menu, but they are on baby! They. are. on. It's weird but I realize that I don't actually enjoy salads all together, but I learned that I could eat it if its separated. It actually looks really pretty that way.

    Dinner: Mushroom and broccoli soup

    Totally doable right?
  • It's doable alright, but I found it too easy to get back into sugar after my 31 day detox last year. It felt great to not crave it so much and of course you should do it if you think it'll help you, but for me I found it had no long term effect.
  • Good luck, I am just discovering chia seeds, they are so versatile.

I am sure you will notice a difference at the end of the month - interesting to see how you feel your energy levels change. I would expect them to slump but then recover with more energy in the end.
