Almost 1 month into my journey

  • Hi all,

I am glad to have found these forums.

I will be 4 weeks on Thursday into my weight loss journey. I have been overweight my entire life. I crossed over the 300lb mark when I was pregnant with my son 10 years ago and never got back below. I haven't been below 200 since high school (high 180-190 in high school) and I will be 40 in a couple of years.

I am on blood pressure and cholesterol medication and when I went for my yearly and my doctor said my blood sugar was high and to do something about it before I needed medication for that too I decided that was enough. I actually got mad at food and decided to go back on a program that helped me lose over 70lbs when i was in high school.

I have never felt this way before about losing weight. I am generally a very happy person, happy in my life and marriage so my weight wasn't a concern of mine. But with the health issues, and now I am starting to feel less able to be active with my son, I decided enough was enough and its time to fix this once and for all. Also, with me eating correctly, it will force my husband and son to eat correctly since I cook everything, and that is an important benefit to me too. We all really need to come off the junk, they just aren't as bad off as I am.

I am doing total meal replacement under doctor supervision for the first few months before easing my way back into food under medical supervision. I am literally so mad and sickened by food now that i really just don't want to eat it anymore. If I could punch it in it's nose I would. I know that must sound odd... Not eating junk is much harder than not smoking (quit smoking 10 years ago while pregnant).

I am happy to be here and look forward to posting and discussing with people going through similar journeys!
