  • How are you?

We are all down with a cold. But despite the physical illness, I feel good for the holiday break. NOT dealing in eldercare was a huge relief.

    How's the PCOS?

Ok. I've been better with my meds and the annoying hypothyroid symptoms are chilling out some (ex: nerve tingles). I still have endoc appt in Feb for new labs and all.

Have not had a cycle in a while, though the hot flashes are chilling out some. I still find it weird to be dealing in PCOS/IR, hypothyroid, and perimenopause all at once because sometimes I cannot tell what the common symptoms (ex: headache) might be coming from. Like... WHICH one?

What are you working on now?

Still keeping a food log. The holiday bloat chilled out and I'm back to weight. So go me -- no holiday gain that was permanent!

Still doing gentle walking exercise/yoga where I can fit it in.

How successful were you for past month?

I think I was successful. Maintaining over holidays is a big deal to me because for years I would gain.

  • Hello all!

I haven't been on the boards as much, but let's see what January brings... new start and all that.

I'm up a few pounds, but this is since the end of November more or less. So, in a sense, I maintained, but I am still to high for my comfort and definitely did not lose.

My PCOS is under control, but I just have to get my food back on track.

I did get a break during the holidays, so stress levels are very low! YAY!

    Happy New Year everyone!

I hope 2015 is an incredible year for everyone! May you reach your health goals!
  • So, technically, I'm super motivated... but somehow, yesterday was day that derailed me... late in the afternoon. I also haven't been sleeping well, and I've really noticed that when my sleep isn't good, carbs have a way of making their way into my mouth....
  • I'm motivated again, even if it means that I post here by myself.

Actually, getting some good sleep the last couple of days have motivated me again. It's incredible to think how much sleep really affects how you handle your day food wise (at least, it does for me).

I didn't think that reading on my Kindle or iPad made a difference, but every article said not to do it... but I never listened... and the last couple of days, I've been reading a real book and... I've been getting better sleep. *sigh*

I need to get out of the 160s. I am so tired of this.
  • Still sick, but getting my house back together. So... groceries!

  • I hope you get better Astrophe! You sound like you've been sick a lot. I hope it's not the stress of everything in your life. Take care of yourself because you can't take care of others if you're sick...

Another week starts and the scale at least is going down. Which is better than staying the same or going up. Doing a lot of decluttering and cleaning up my house, which makes me feel great. I needed to do this. And it's good movement and exercise.

I hope everyone is doing well here.

Oh, and I started watching that show on TLC about the woman who has PCOS and is really overweight -- I forget what it's called. Anyone else watching? I think it's called something "My Fabulous Fat Life" or something like that.
  • Just started posting in 3FC today after being away for years, first time posting in PCOS:

How are you? I'm good, worried about doing stuff for the nonprofit
How's the PCOS? I just was diagnosed last year. I don't have any treatment for the PCOS right now. Going to the GYN at the end of the month. Waiting to hear the results of my A1C. My sugar level was high a couple of months ago, so my neurologist ordered an A1C. I am not diabetic though.
What are you working on now? I'm trying to cut down on the amount of sugar I eat.
How successful were you for past month? I just started eating healthy again.
  • Thanks, Rana. It was a round of bad flu stuff. And having to care for others while I am sick too. Ugh.

Doing better -- house is back in order and trying new recipes. Still wheat free -- go me! And go you -- glad you are motivated!

Martina -- welcome back! Hope your appt goes well.

  • I'm hanging in there.

Wish I could say I was doing great, but I keep crossing off the days to my lab and endoc appt.

    I feel groooooossssss.

Perimenopuase is kicking my butt. Over the cold. I've stuck to no wheat, and keeping a food log. Taking my meds and vitamins. But something is OFF somewhere.

    Meh.

  • I've been feeling off, too, Astrophe. Maybe it's astrological or sun spots or something in the water.

I'm doing okay. My weight went up a few pounds and hasn't come down. I've been super stressed and I don't know if this is ovulation bloat or something else.

I hope you start feeling better. Good luck.

I'm just going to continue drinking a lot of water and eat as healthy as I can.
  • Haven't posted on the forums for a long long time, but i gained some weight back again over the past few months i feel sad about this, however it really motivated me to watch hat i eat more again (definitely think that's what made me gain :/) also trying to workout at least 3-4 times a week..
I've been trying to lose weight for such a long time now and i really feel like i need to get it done for once and for all! Can't wait to be able to wear pencil skirts and feel comfortable haha
  • I completely understand, Dreamer! I'm in the same boat.

Now that January is ending, I'm not sure I am ending it with an amazing run, but I am ending it with the commitment back to reducing my weight this year and finally hitting 150. I can do 15 lb loss in a year.
  • Welcome back, Dreamer! Hang in there with it. I'm glad you are back/

It took me a few years to master "do not gain over the holidays." Sometimes it is just part of the learning curve, YKWIM? I'm still trying to master "maintain." That is taking me many more years.

On the bright side... I got my long absent period today! Maybe that explains some of the UGH feelings lately.

  • I'm a new member. I joined the site, after finding this support group in an online search. I'm hoping the encouragement, advice and accountability of people experiencing similar symptoms will help me stay on track with a really low carb diet. When I have followed a low carb diet is when I have felt the best physically, as well as losing weight. I'm in a pretty vicious cycle of difficulty cutting carbs, intense carb cravings, and extreme fatigue when I break down and eat something with carbs. Insulin Resistance and PCOS. I've had long runs in the past of no sugar, but it seems once I have a little bit, the intense cravings return, and it's super hard to get on track again. No one in my immediate family seems to get this, and I'm constantly surrounded by foods that I should not eat. Help!
