New to this forum

  • Hi, my name is Raelynn and I just started Atkins on Monday. I started my weight loss journey a year ago, and was able to lose 50lbs by counting calories and exercising. I had plateaued for several months, and decided to try Atkins (since I love veggies and meat). I am really liking it so far, I feel fantastic and I am down 8 lbs since Monday.
  • Hi Raelynn.. I am new to this board also. I just started Atkins this week and I am loving it so far. I have been following the plan exactly and I have lost 7 lbs so far. I thought that I would really miss bread and potatoes but I haven't yet. I do miss the occasional bagel with cream cheese. That is one of my favorites!

    I've gone over my carb limit a couple of times (25-30 carbs instead of 20 or less) and I am still seeing results. For me, I miss cereal and milk. We are almost the same weight too.

    I started on the Atkins thing too on Monday. Not sure how much I lost so far, I will weigh tomorrow morning. I too lost about 80 lbs, with just diet and exercise. I ate in moderation and lots of lean cuisines, but then I got bored when i plateaued for nearly a year!!!!!! Now I have gained 20 back so I am looking to get a jump start with this and hopes it leads to a more moderate diet....carbs were my mainstay! I have stayed under the 20 carb limit everyday, but I have not been able to go off the diet coke!. I did only have one cup of coffee this week, but I am thinking about going back to a cup a day. Caffiene doesn't seem to increase my appetite, and I enjoy it sooooooo much. I think one cup a day will be okay??!!! I also have had trouble witht he 4 ozs of cheese limit, but I think over thime I can decrease that too, It has just been hard to give it all up!!!!! Good luck to you!!!!1

    Re Coffee and diet Coke - don't tell anybody but I've never given them up. I have to keep SOME vices!

    lilybutt ~ I also lost almost 80 lbs (went from 280ish to 203) by eating less and exercising, then gained back to 240, and now am losing again. I've been between 220-225 for the last few months on a plateau and I desperately want to get back down again. I felt just awesome when I was at 203 (I am still kicking myself for giving up when I plateaued there too). But I'll be there again. I don't consume caffeine because I developped an allergy to it a few months ago and had to quit my coffee. I will sometimes get a decaf because I like how coffee tastes, but I get horrible headaches and my cheeks get really hot if I drink coffee (I've never been much of a pop person).
