Erythritol May Be My New Best Friend

  • I don't know about the rest of you but I hate every single one of the artificial sweetners. Either because it's a chemical I'm highly suspicious of, it's Stevia based and I just can't learn to like it, or it's a sugar alcohol which does ungodly things to my GI tract. I just want to have a nice cup of coffee in the morning and I miss sugar! So after reading tons of articles and reviews of erythritol, that for the vast, vast majority it causes no problems and seeing the bag at the store was $6 something I took a chance.

Glory be, it tastes good and no "side effects"!

You do need to use about 1/3 more than you would of sugar, which feels strange, and I've read there may be some issues with baking, but my oven isn't trustworthy ATM so I can't vouch in that department.
  • Glad its working out for you. I personally am not a fan of any artificial sweeteners.

Fortunately Erythritol occurs naturally and is therefore not artificial.

I suspect you meant to say you're not a fan of any added sweeteners?

    Thanks for the correction.

I am not a fan of substituting one evil for another and IMO, sugar, naturally occurring or otherwise....is evil
