Wednesday Beach Chat, Oct 8

  • Good Morning!

It's the morning of the Penumbral Eclipse. "A penumbral lunar eclipse takes place when the Moon moves through the faint, outer part of the Earth's shadow. This type of eclipse is often mistaken for a normal full Moon."

Finally, an event that fits right into my schedule! I've been up putting things back in place from my flooring project but I thought I'd get us started this morning and it's time for more coffee. I take my mom to a medical appt. at 8 this morning so I should have everything wrapped up by then.

What's on your agenda on this hump-day? Stop and say hi!
  • Right it's a Blood Moon tonight but around here will be best viewed around 4 a.m. Watch it be cloudy tomorrow morning when I wake up.

Yesterday was a chained to the desk day as I massaged numbers to fit into what is needed for our grant reports. I wish they'd give us the format that will be needed for the end-of-grant report. Got it done though and emailed the works to the Mill President who is doing the final report. Whew! Since it rained yesterday, it's probably just as well I was stuck on the computer.

This afternoon, Jazz and I are off to Pet Therapy. His tonsillitis problem seems to have cleared up after two weeks of anti-biotics. After that there will be another playdate with Joey and my dogs. It's so nice to see them playing in the yard. Although we know they are OK, Joanne and I stand and watch the show since it's very funny to see the three of them. Hmm - must make a 4PawsInn reservation for my wee-vacation next week.

Drat! Wanted to do a crockpot meal tonight but remembered my crockpot is still at Joanne's since she used it at her porch party. I'm doing some corned beef and cabbage and that's the way to go IMHO.

Gearing up for Thanksgiving weekend and so is the weather. The leaves should be at peak by Saturday when we do the Harvest Festival at the Mill. I must try to work in some baking before then - maybe my super-simple pineapple cakes. I also have some maple syrup to use up - before SBD, that was never a problem since I adored the stuff.

OK - getting it in gear before 6. Hope you have a manageable Hump Day!
  • Debbie - you are insane. Just sayin'. (having all your niggles done by 8 am....)

Ruth - Hope the mutts have a good time today! PS - you need at least 2 crockpots!

My crockpot jambalaya was delish last night! I planned on pulled pork tonight, but forgot to put it on last night (that way I would pull all the fat off this am, and let it continue to cook until tonight.

Nothing else exciting but work. I keep thinking of my colleague with her newborn at home...I don't envy those days!
  • We have our Blood Moon this morning and just came inside from admiring it. We were lucky to have a great view of it despite the lingering clouds.

Ruth, I'm glad dear Jazz has recovered from his bout of tonsilitis. It must feel good to have those reports done and sent it. Now maybe you can relax a bit.

Today shouldn't be as busy as the past two days, but I'll be trying to keep up with all the dust since there'll be a lot of drilling today. I suggested the guys put up a temporary wall to block off the work zone, and hope they heed my advice. The girls have riding lessons after school so I will finally be getting home at a decent hour and hope to get my Fall decorations out - finally! At least put the wreath on the door, anyway. This weekend I want to change out the wardrobes, a task I'm not too fond of.

My coffee's especially tasty this morning, can I get anyone a cup?
  • Thanks for the offer, Cottage, but I have my thermos full and ready to go!

No viewing of the moon here this morning: we have more rain. It was beautiful last evening at dusk.

Ruth, I think most of our leaves are on the decline, both in color and quantity. After 2 days of rain and wind we will have a lot of bare trees. Hope your furry friends have a good visit. What will you be doing for Thanksgiving dinner?

Debbie, I'll just say "wow". Hope your Mom's appointment goes smoothly.

Tammy, your recipe sounds good. Have a good day at work.

Ok, got to run! Have a great day, all!
  • Good morning. Debbie's to do list is done by 8 and I haven't even made mine lol
I have lots to do and only today to do it! I need to get an outfit for the fancy dinner next Thursday. I really despise clothes shopping. I ordered pants online from Kohl's (I need tall and they are hard to find). First pair came yesterday. Dress pants yeah right they felt like yoga pants and clung like tights.

Ruth it is nice your pups have play dates. Coconut doesn't like any dogs except Mick. At Mick's age he would tolerate it at best lol. Likes other dogs, but only to smell them

Tammy I have two crockpots too. They certainly get a workout!

Linda I'll taje Beth's cup I'm ready for a refill Hope the renovation goes smoothly

Beth we had rain too and winds. Slept through it though

Today is errands and my last appointment with my dr. He is moving I think I have a sinus or respiratory infection. My normal for this time of year. DS gave me a huge list of food last night. But much to my surprise it included fruit!!!! He never ate any fruit except the rare banana or apple. He has also taken up running with a few guys. He comes home Friday for a few days. Unfortunately I have to work all weekend. At least I will have Monday and Tuesday with him. Tuesday I bring him and two of his friends back.

Time to get it in gear
  • Good morning chickies

just dropping in to say hello. Recovering from jetlag gets harder as you get older. Had a wonderful time and the weather was beautiful. Will be back after I catch up with things at home. No weight gain but walking every day for 5 to 6 hrs helps
    nice to see everyone here
    take care
    Sophie
  • Sophie, welcome back!

Jennifer, too bad you have to work this weekend. I think it's great your DS is picking up some healthy habits at school.

Beth, hope your day goes fast….sorry you had clouds. That's usually the story for us here.

Linda, glad you got to see the moon. I hope they build that retaining wall for you. Construction is such a big mess. Did the fox hunt go as planned?

Tammy, maybe insane...remember I don't have kids lol. Glad you enjoyed your jambalaya!

Ruth, yay for finished report! Glad Jazz' tonsils have healed!

    Karen, Pearlrose and anyone else
  • Good evening,

Got a few minutes before the evening round of conference begins. We fly back tomorrow afternoon can't wait to get back home. Have gotten lots of good information to share this time so happy about that.

DH and I both woke up at 4 a.m. so we watched the moon very cool but now I am tired.

Sounds like everyone is busy as usual.
  • I have joined the Better Late Than Never crowd but at least I made it in Another busy day today. My parents are visiting so I took a day off much to my boss's dismay, Started the day with a biopsy of the thing on the side of my nose. I wouldn't have been talking to strangers today anyway Tomorrow we get Mom and Dad back on their way home then it's work. Friday we leave for 3 days at the coast. I can't wait!

Hope your hump day was painless
