If it wasnt' for this belly fat (fill in the blank)

  • Ok so I was in a store and this lady came in the dressing room with these clothes that were a size xl and I knew she couldn't possibly get into them because well she looked to be about my size.

When she came out she had one of the shirts and I said to myself I may need to try on some different sizes.

Then reality kicked in. It's this belly fat.

When I see some plus size ladies I look at their stomach and that's when it finally hit me. If I were able to get rid of this belly that is hanging down to my crotch maybe I could get into some smaller sizes and look decent.

Like the title says IF IT WASN'T FOR THIS BELLY FAT..... I WOULD BE AT LEAST 2 SIZES SMALLER.

I'm just ranting, maybe because I just looked at myself in a full length mirror and that tells it all SMH
  • ... I would wear a bikini!
  • No, don't go down that road. By all means, take care of yourself, eat nutritious food, exercise and meditate and do all you can to be a better you. But do not put down any part of your body. Think of all your body has done for you, it carries you around, it births children, it holds in all your vital organs. Do you know how lucky you are to have this body?

Do you think that by berating some part of your body you can shame yourself into action? Do you think that by withholding love and appreciation your body will react with willpower!? Do you think that by blaming your problems on your body it actually solves them? It will not. I've known lots of women who hate their bodies, lose weight and then realize they still hate their bodies and ther life is still not perfect.

Treat your body kindly. Both in how you treat it and how you view it. Nothing good ever comes from putting yourself down. You may be interested in reading Beautifl You: A radical guide to self acceptance.
  • My belly is my problem area, I don't like it because it represents how unfit and unhealthy I am. I want it to be smaller but until then I can accept it for what it is. It's part of me, it's only the way it is because I failed my body rather than the other way around. It will go in time, until then I will use it as motivation for a better me.
  • I'm in the same boat... you're doing great though! keep it up!
  • If it wasn't for this belly fat... I would be able to walk more than 20 minutes without being feeling like I may die lol
  • I have a pooch belly and I freaking HATE it. I'm skinny fat. I look fine standing but when I sit all I feel is rolls touching. UGH.

Oh well. Until I do strength training I will never get any tone from cardio.

Good point. I've withheld love from my cellulite for years and the body sure didn't react with will power.

    Seriously, good points Wannabeskinny!
  • if it wasn't for this belly fat....i would know exactly how much stretched out skin i have on my tummy from my 10 year old who was over 10lbs. right now it's difficult to tell fat roll from excess skin. lol

seriously though, if it wasn't for this belly fat, i'd have a smaller belly. thats about it. i've spent too much time thinking i'm being held back by my weight. i'm held back by my insecurities. losing weight will make me lighter and healthier but it's just a tiny part of making myself a more positive, outgoing, successful person.
