I just finished a delicious lunch and I was just thinking about the YOLO mentality. I don't know about you guys, but I've had my fair share of YOLO moments where I would tell myself "right here and right now, I want that second helping/processed product/sweet and I should have it because I only live once". And it's worse if someone around you pushes you to eat something you know you shouldn't have and then says something along the lines of: oh come on, you only live once!
Justifying things that are harmful to my health like that is possibly the worst thing I could have done. I know I'm human and I know that sometimes, you just have to give in. However, I'm starting to think that it might be possible for me to make YOLO work in a positive way. "You only live once" should be the positive drive behind not giving in. Making decisions in favour of my health because, well, that's honestly what's truly behind "living once".
I'm happy to say that I did not go for a second helping, even if I wanted to. I actually feel quite satisfied. I'm not sure how long this trend is going to go for, but for now, YOLO is my new mantra.
What do you guys think? Is there something you say to yourself to keep yourself motivated?

We get one body and we should treat it well. Sometimes that means enjoying a second helping, but more often is means celebrating acts of moderation.
