Realistic weight

  • Okay...let's talk realism here. I'm 5'7". What SHOULD my ideal weight be? I just read that Jennifer Aniston is my height and weighs 112. WHAT???!!! Maybe if I chopped off the top part of my body that would be feasible. Sheesh. Just had to vent that.
  • Somewhere way back on these boards is a post about a website that gave you a realistic weight for your age and height. I will see if I can find it.
  • A dietician friend once told me that a good rule of thumb is: 100 to 110 pounds for the first 5 feet of height, and then 5 pounds for each inch above that. So for a person 5'7'' tall, using this rule, she would say that a good target for you would be 135-145 pounds. Of course, this is a very general rule, not taking into account different body types, body fat percentage, etc.
  • Hey- I am 5 ft 7- my goal is 150. I think this is a reasonable and healthy weight given my bone structure. If I weighed 112, people would think I smoked crack.
  • I'm 5'7" also. When I made goal at WW, I weighed 145 and I was a size 8 (not tight either) so that's what I'm shooting for. I can't imagine weighing 112...I think my BONES weigh more than that!
  • I found it!

  • Thanks! Let it be said that 112 is below the medical recommendation.
