Whoosh

  • I hear of having a whoosh. But I don't think I've had one. And I only say this because my idea of a whoosh is high weight loss in a weeks time. Is this correct? Is there a number value that constitutes a whoosh? Does it depend on how much weight you have to lose in the beginning?
  • I think you can consider a "whoosh" any loss that's a greater amount than you typically lose when you haven't done anything differently.

I know I get a little whoosh following the mini-plateau that accompanies TOM. I'll lose next to nothing for a week, then within 3 days, I'll drop 4 pounds without making any changes.

I don't think there are set numbers, just an unexpected, bigger than usual drop based on your individual experience.
  • Thanks
  • To me a whoosh is 1 or more pounds gone in 24hrs. For example, if I weigh 165 today and tomorrow the scale says 164 or less.
  • To me it's usually after a stall and then in a matter of two or three days, I lose 2 or 3 lbs.. It's just when you're pleasantly surprised by a loss, I guess.
  • I'm not sure if I ever had a woosh, but i've had small plateaus and then lost a considerable amount of weight unexpectedly (maybe 1 lb). Is that a woosh?
  • It seems to me that it's however you define it for yourself, so if you are surprised in a good way, I"d say that qualifies.
