I must admit... I am a scale addict!

  • ugh... The scale drives me insane. I try & try with all all my might not to use the darn thing... but I can't stop myself.

I used to weigh every single day... till I wanted to break my scale into a million pieces because I'd get so annoyed with the water weight and fluctuations.

I actually had my husband hide it from me onetime... that didn't last long. I found it. I just had to get a chair to reach it. lol.

So... this time around I was doing so good. I was weighing once a week, then last week I weighed 3 times... now I'm getting back into my old habbits!

Of course, if the numbers on the scale are good then it was totally worth it... but when they aren't so good... it drives me CRAZY!!

Sometimes I feel like the number on the scales controls how my day goes... I work really hard to make the right choices so seeing good results really helps me stay focused.

    I know it's silly, but I can't help it!

Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?

I decided that I can't keep driving myself crazy so... I'm going to try with all my might to ONLY weigh ONCE a week on Fridays.

but what if I'm retaining water on Friday? Then I'll want to weigh on Saturday, see the cycle? Ugh... I hate the scale!
  • Hey there, I feel for you! I had the same problem. I think the key is to see what happens after each month. I also recommend photos...they show more of what is going on, in my opinion. Maybe your husband can hide the scale again, by taking it to his office and bringing it back every month? Just a thought. Sending you !
  • I use the scale a lot too and have done since day 1. It has mostly been a big motivation for me so I do not think regular weighing is a bad thing. But you need to learn how your body works.

    Here are my tips:

    1) try to weigh no more than once a day. The best time for me is just after waking after having gone for a pee, naked and without having drank or eaten anything. That is my official daily weigh in.

    2) If I must weigh twice I weigh before I go to bed, naked. I know (now) that my body can lose up to 2lbs overnight from my nightly check-in so it can give me a heads-up on what to expect in the morning. I found this by learning how my body works.

    3) Gain days happen. I get one once a week like clockwork no matter how good or bad my diet has been. Learn your body.

Learn your body (did I say that already?).

But the scale can be a great motivation, especially at heavier weights as you are more likely to lose.
