  • I have numerous nieces and nephews so I've attended multiple weddings over the last few years. Although the events were splendid, I always hated seeing the pictures and having to face the reality that I was the fat aunt.

Another niece got married today and I have to say it was pretty fantastic to actually love how I looked for the day. (Plus, I had boatloads of fun on the dance floor. )

  • Congrats. What a great feeling! I'm attending a family reunion in July and I can't wait to not be the fat aunt.
  • Hi ----- You look great and nice dress! How much weight did you lose?
  • You look great. You go girl!
  • Great job! Time to boogie down!
  • Thanks everyone! And good luck to you on achieving YOUR goals!

Quote: Hi ----- You look great and nice dress! How much weight did you lose?
    Since January 2013 I've lost 58 pounds....from 225 to 167. (Only 30 more to go! Yay!)

The short answer: A lot. The long answer: My highest weight ever, which I hit for a short time in 2005, was 273. (That's the weight I was at my oldest niece's wedding. ) I lost a good bit of weight in 2005/06 and then gained/lost the same 30ish pounds for several years. (I was generally about 240 pounds at the other weddings.)
  • You look lovely!
  • You look just great! Amazing result. My congratulations to you! Keep going to your final goal!Good luck dear!
  • WTG! You look amazinG!
  • Boy, can I relate! In fact, weddings in which I was FORCED into family photos are the only pics I have from recent years. I was still always fun aunt. Now that I'm "better", I was supposed to be "fun aunt on beach vacay" with my niece next month but it didn't work out. Still, it was nice to be wanted because I can do everything my much younger niece wanted to do and she knew I could keep up.
  • Congratulations! Love the shoes, BTW!
  • You had to feel great! no one likes being the fattest in the room! Way to go you and great photo!
  • Way to go! You look great. Glad you had a good time.
  • Thankies everyone!

By the by, the whole outfit was $10 at Goodwill - $5 for the dress, $3 for the shoes, $2 for the necklace. I love shopping at thrift stores.
  • You look beautiful!
