  • Just for fun, what are some good songs for our weight loss journey? Please feel free to post a link or a title to one that you like or would be appropriate.

Here are a few we've mentioned lately:

John Mayer -- Your body is a(t) Onederland

Feeling Hot Hot Hot (either due to sexiness or hot flashes! LOL)

This Girl is on Fire (as we slay those dragons of food cravings and rock this thing!)

  • More of an inspirational song, but I have fallen in love with "Overcomer" by Mandisa. Sorry I don't have a YouTube link handy! I love some of the words "don't quit, don't give in, you're an overcomer..."
  • Since we're rockin' this plan -- especially when we go out on the town-- the Stray Cats can remind you to

"Rock this (plan), Rock it inside out!"

GraceRev -- this is not an IP song but one I've been singing all week that I wanted to share with you just 'cause it's so beautiful. 10,000 Reasons by Matt Redman.

Love, love, love this song! For me, a lot of this IP journey is getting back in touch with treating my body like a God-loving temple and not a garbage bin!
  • Well evemomma, I guess it IS kinda an IP song as we are all finding our 10,000 reasons -- or even just one -- on why we need to lose weight too (whatever form of inspiration that takes: kids, health >>> body, mind and spirit are all connected)
  • Also a huge fan of 10,000 Reasons! It's a good one for IP too!
  • Gloria Gaynor "I Will Survive." For those really tough TOM or 'estrogen release from our fat weeks,' lol.

    Liana
  • How 'bout Kermit the Frog's "It's not easy (eating) Green...."
  • I find "Right Now" by Van Halen really motivating!

Great song! I was watching the video and the one line jumped out "Nothing is more expensive than regret"... puts the cost of getting healthy into good perspective!
  • India Arie's life is a journey

    I love the lyrics:

    Life is a journey,
    Not a destination,
    There are no mistakes,
    Just chances weve taken
Lay down your regrets cause all we have is now

    Wake up in the morning
    And get out of bed
Start making a mental list in my head
Of all of the things that I am grateful for

    Early in the morning
Its the dawn of a new day
New hopes new dreams new ways
I open up my eyes and
I open up my mind and
I wonder how life will surprise me today
    Early in the morning
Its the dawn of a new day
New hopes new dreams new ways
I open up my heart and
Im gon do my part and
Make this a positively beautiful day

La la la la la la la la la (x3)
    Its a Beautiful Day (x3
  • Fantastic song! When I wake up tomorrow I'm putting that on first thing
Edit: 7:44 am the next day and I'm singin' away! Thanks McKaren -- I didn't know this song and now I have a new favourite

    You are welcome!
This was the cool down song for a zumba class I used to take and I
    have loved it ever since!
  • Friday nite I saw Doobie Brothers and Boston in concert.
Boston actually has lots of good, positive motivational songs but Don't Look Back
    really struck me.

    "Don't Look Back"

    Don't look back
    A new day is breakin'
It's been too long since I felt this way
    I don't mind where I get taken
    The road is callin'
    Today is the day

    I can see
It took so long to realize
    I'm much too strong
    Not to comprimise
Now I see what I am is holding me down
    I'll turn it around

I finally see the dawn arrivin'
I see beyond the road I'm drivin'
    Far away and left behind

It's a new horizon and I'm awakin' now
Oh I see myself in a brand new way
    The sun is shinin'
    the clouds are breakin'
'Cause I can't lose now, there's no game to play

    I can tell
There's no more time left to criticize
I've seen what I could not recognize
Everything in my life was leading me on
    but I can be strong

I finally see the dawn arrivin'
I see beyond the road I'm drivin'
    Far away and left behind
