Monday, May 19 Musings!

  • Good morning! Woke with spring in my heart, if not in my step, and realized I need to take more breaks. I didn't admit how tired I was until I had a weekend away. I even managed to sleep more than 5 hours last night! That's gotta be a record. It was so good to take a break.

Today is a stat holiday here but it'll be business as usual for the Mill. I also have two cousins (2nd or 1st once removed) coming for coffee this a.m. We have a Mill Board meeting this afternoon which is a drag but I'm going to cobble together my report shortly and plan to work in some garden stuff late morning and late afternoon.

My tulips are looking lovely and the Dolgo crab is in full bloom and scent. 'Tis the season! Too bad my back field is still flooded. This time last year, things were dry and we connected the pump out there so we could water. Never mind, my raised bed is ready for a crop of rainbow chard and I can do my flower boxes to help me get over my Spring impatience!

Have a great Monday as we march towards the Memorial Day weekend when Delta's population swells as half of PA moves up here to the cottages and camping park!

  • Good morning Ruth! A good night's sleep is amazing, I hope you get a bunch of them this week. Enjoy the visit for coffee today (drink lots to stay awake during the meeting later ).

I have a short day of work (my last Monday!!!!), and then lots of errands, and then to the dr for my neck. I've gone to the chiro a couple of times, and it just isn't getting better. I about cried in church yesterday, sitting in the chair just didn't help it.

What salad should I bring this weekend camping? I'm thinking the black bean and corn, even my kids like it. Hmmm....
  • Good morning, Ruth, and chicks to come.

I was sure good to get away for a weekend, but it's also good to be home again, too. Jake was eager to show me the rhododendrons and clematis that are starting to bloom, and also weeded the entire garden, but he forgot to water the hanging planters and they were looking pretty sad. That was quickly remedied, and now they're all perky again, lol.

I'm ready for the usual busy Monday at the farm, and have a pile of laundry waiting for me when I get home.
  • Good morning It's our one work day of the week then we are off to Maine tomorrow, coming back Saturday. We found a very pet friendly place, hoping it is as good as the reviews sound. Nor worrying about the rain in the forecast, it's still vacation

Tammy - I'm making a Kalyn breakfast casserole and maybe the lentil feta salad for our trip. I should take another look at the black bean corn salad. I'm planning more bean salad dinners this summer.

Ruth - Hooray for time away I'm resisting looking up that tree, I already have too long a wish list for the yard

Cottage - You reminded me to take the tomatoes out of the little greenhouse. That would have been sad.

Okay, the sooner I get to work the sooner I get done!
  • Good morning

As usual, I'm on the run. I cleaned out our filthy grill this morning which was a project in itself.

Now I'm sitting for five minutes with a cup of coffee watching the hummingbird at my feeder.

    Happy Monday everyone!
  • Quick flyby for me- sounds like everyone is doing well. Have a good day!
  • Hey, all. I've been busy today. Gym this morning. Marshall's for returns but then I bought three things that cost about the same as my refund. Helped my mom look at tablets. Shopped for tops to go with my new workout capris. Computer issues. Now we are waiting for our house guest; he is taking us out to dinner tonight.
  • FINALLY off from work!!! Now I can stress over getting the house ready for mom's visit. I did get a few things done after work. Planted inpatients and a few annuals in pots. Lugged the patio furniture up from the basement and scrubbed it. My pressure washer needs a little TLC, but since I don't know how to clean the carberator I'll ask the landscaper to power wash the house. It is looking quite green this year.

Tomorrow the car goes in for struts and me to the orthopedist. I did something to my left knee during the ride. Tammy my legs and I felt great during and after the ride. Ironically though I brought home almost 8 pounds of water weight!! My calves and thighs were enormous. A few days of extra hydrating really helped get me back to my pre weight ride. I think my body was storing everything I put in it out of fear lol.

Time to start spring cleaning yikes so much to do!!!
