Where you lose your weight

  • I have a question for those of you who have lost a considerable amount of weight. I have heard that the place you want to lose the weight the most, is the place it will come off last. I really want my "muffin top" or "spare tire" gone, and it does seem to be the place that is not shrinking yet! I'm down 21 pounds right now and have about 70 more to go. I'm sure it will come off eventually, but my question for you all is this: Did the place on your body that you wanted to lose most, come off last?
  • Yep booklover - that is exactly right. I wanted the "spare tire" gone first and it is the last to leave. I've noticed it's tightening up now which is nice. I've been doing a lot of core work which may help.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could pick where we wanted the inches to come off?
  • I do not think the wishing part will affect where weight is lost or not lost.

Probably when we have an area we focus on, it draws attention to it in our minds and we watch it more closely than another area! So it may seem to always be the last to go, but in reality is probably shrinking as well. But since it is our focal point it seems much slower.

The body is going to do what it is going to do and how we think about it won't have much effect.

That said, the area around the middle is one of the areas that takes more time in many people!

Don't stress, though, because stress can slow down losses!

It will all happen... Just stay positive and on plan!
  • I have lost 12 inches in my waist and that is where I was carrying a lot of my weight. I have also lost 6.5 in my chest which is a little sad. I really feel it in my rib cage area. Thighs are horrible! Oh well. I'll still take it everywhere I can.

I have lost weight in my chest as well, and I am considering having a "lift" when I've lost all the weight I need to lose.

My thighs are also one of my worst areas, and they don't seem to be shrinking at all! I have been walking 30 minutes 3-4 days a week, so maybe I'm building muscle... I'm hoping that's what it is!
  • Everyone is different...

Abdominal area jelly belly went poof initially for me...although my size clothing wise felt slow to drop, and I was about 8 weeks in before I needed smaller slacks. Then things slowed down after the first 3 months, (but still registered some loss in both lbs and inches nearly every week) I felt like I could not see results, although the tape measure and scale indicated things were shrinking.

Finally the last 6 -8 weeks...rear, legs, thighs and shoulders shrunk at a very fast pace. Changes in size were dramatic last summer which for me were the last few months on P1!! Often within 10 days-2 weeks there was a size change. Also , I did exercise at a low intensity from the third month...and feel that really helped with muscle mass and toning. Reached goal in mid August 2013 and the lose skin is much tighter now, 8 months out. And I'm 65+....looking at 66 this summer.

Hang in there...it will happen...patience!! Think about the fact it will probably be off faster than the length of time you have been overweight.....!!
  • Thanks ladies! I thought maybe I was going crazy, but it's nice to know I'm not alone! I'll just keep doing what I'm doing and I know it will eventually happen.
