Back on track, but - oh, the headache

  • I've been slacking for a long while now, tried to go at it again but failed several times, not too happy with myself for that, but it happens. Now I am ready, had a great day yesterday and today as well, and it feels good .

Except, there is one thing driving me crazy: I have an awful headache. I suspect that it comes from suddenly not eating sugary food/snacks after having done so just about every day for a long time. I have felt this before, and I know painkillers do not work at all, the only thing that helps that I know of is eating, well, sugar. But I'm not going to.

Now, I'm guessing that many of you have experienced this as well, and overcame it somehow... If so, how did you handle it?
  • I tried to ease into it with more fruit the first few days. And making sure that the other carbohydrates you choose are good quality is important. Also, make sure you are drinking enough water. Dehydration manifests as a headache sometimes. Don't give in! It gets waaay better. Especially if you have some obsessive/compulsive/addictive tendencies with sugar like I do. The longer I go without, the easier it gets to say no.
  • drink a lot of water.. you might be dehydrating yourself!
  • Oooooooooh yes. I am VERY familiar with the sugar withdrawal headaches. This happens with me when cutting sugars out cold turkey. I have noticed that the headaches do subside in a few days. Give it another day or two. I do agree with others that have said to make sure you are drinking enough water. However, with me, I know that the headaches were not dehydration headaches because I drank PLENTY of water.
  • Thank you all for great response. I am drinking lots of water, so that's not a problem here Seems like I just have to wait it out, then. Maybe eat some fruit. It is stressful as it is right in the middle of exams and all, but I'll get through it I guess
  • Yes, I call it "detoxing." Ride it out--just lasts a day or two.
