New to this and learning to forgive myself

  • Hi! I am starting my journey all over again and it's not easy. The losing weight I seem to handle fairly well; I just wish the weight would come off faster. Starting in September 2011, I started a strict approach (won't name the program) and it focused on severely restricting my carb intake. I lost 96 lbs in 7 months. I ended up putting every single pound back on
The hardest part is truly forgiving myself for that. I'm sure I'm not the only one with this experience.
What I do understand about my situation is that it failed because it wasn't a balanced approach and I really hadn't learned to change a lifestyle. The low carb thing does work for me because I have been found to be insulin resistant.
My focus this time is to eat meat and veggies, some healthy fruit and grains and to exercise. My doctor also prescribed Metformin twice a day. I appreciate the support!
  • Welcome to 3fat chicks.
That is always my big fear with eliminating something from my diet completely. I am a calorie counter myself. I have lost 40lbs(It was 50lbs but my December was stress filled and I live with a stress baker.) I try not to restrict myself from anything but keep it all to sensible portions. I work with a doctor that I loosely follow his plan and it works well when I do. He calls it the 5-15-30. Eat all five colors of fruits and vegetables. You can look it up at 5 a day the color way. Meditate for 15 minutes(this is the one I always struggle with, pretty sure I have mild ADD.) Exercise for 30 minutes a day.
I try to get 5-7 servings of fruits and vegetable in.
Make sure you find a forum. Not sure of your age but there are individual area's in each age bracket. Or look at the 100lb club. The key is finding support. We all mess up the difference is not turning one bad day into two etc.
    You can do this.
