The Daily Cackle - Thursday, July 10

  • A beautiful COOL morning here! I even turned off the AC last night and opened all the windows.

I really enjoyed Shirleyanne's visit this week. She is a great guest - helps when needed but also disappears for quiet times on the porch with her book every so often. She has had a very stressful past week and needed the time away. She did promise me she'd go to a doctor re the anxiety attacks.

It's going to take me a while to catch up with all the posts so forgive me if I've mised something really important. So far I have not noticed anything amiss - nobody even said the F word!

Today I am off for allergy shot #3 and then to town for a cut and perm. It's hard to believe it was April when I got the last one! Tomorrow Lucy goes to Holly for her cut so we will all be well coiffed by the weekend. I wonder if Harry will go to the barber too!

Fair stuff is cranking up. I am sitting back watching lots of stuff all through the cracks but being strong. I hope everything comes together before the 24th but.... Anyhow, the flower plantings look great, I have all the schoolwork collected and sorted for judging and the advance tickets are out in the area. There is a ton of money stuff to be done but the new Treasurer has gone camping! Too bad I no longer have signing authority - NOT! Oh well, it'll happen and I'll be able to catch the grandstand shows instead of slaving away in the Office getting bank deposits ready!

I'm a bit tired this a.m. so am going to take a lovely bubble bath before I head for the doc. I hope everyone has a great Thursday.

I'm sending everyone a bouquet of shasta daisies, pink lillies and blue delphiniums this morning.
  • Glad you enjoyed your vist this week Ruth, looks like both of you needed it!

I have been a slug all week, dh is outta town in Hotlanta and M and I ahve been swimming, watching movies and generally goofing off. To top it all off TOM is here and I have lots of housework to do before dh comes home. Maybe one more day of slugville?? LOL Miree is watching Shrek right now, she saw it for the first time yesterday and thinks it's hysterical!

Off to get some brekkie in me and sort some laundry
  • Good Morning everyone!!

Thankyou so much for the flowers Ruth!! The lady on the corner has all those flowers in her garden, so its was very easy to picture them all in a vase on my table

Back on induction today, and so far so good!! I didnt sneak a taste of dd frosted flakes Hubby has been wonderfully supportive and understanding. He made me promise when MIL left and the stress level got back down to normal, that I would get back on track. I have, and he has been very helpful

Things seem to have picked up at the store, both hubby's sign business, and the gift shop are doing better. Seems we are now bringing about the same every month, compared to when we first opened. Mind you that was at xmas time, and the gift shop was very very busy lol. Im quite proud of him, you can see his signs all up and down the avenue!!

Thats about all thats happening around here, and I LOVE it that way!!!!!!

    Have a great day everyone
    Robin
  • Hey! Where is everybody? Should the Low Carb Daily become a weekly?
  • I think there should be too many posts to read! I'm guilty of lurking, I know there are a few more, too! Hope you all start posting soon!

Same old same old today, broke off 3 fingernails in the horrid file-room at work, one bled. Ewwwwwww! So, I'm campaigning for a couple new file cabinets to get some space in there. It's not gonna happen, unless we knock out a wall. Hey, that could be arranged!

Hope you're all having a great day!
  • Oops! I've been a lurker today too! I'm preparing audit workpapers for Pear client's audit next week and have been up to my eyeballs in calculator tape.

I'm doing much better this year with my stress eating than I normally do at this time - usually I go thru 2 bags (not talking about the one serving bags either) of almond M&Ms but I haven't touch one! (of course, I just a a few bite sized Frosted Shredded Wheat but that IS better than all that chocolate, right?)

Hotter then heck here this week - up to the triple digits. Murphy's law since BOTH boys have baseball tourneys this weekend. Oh well, downing the water and watered down Unsweetened Lipton Ice Tea (my drink of choice) won't be a problem. Those horrid little green outhouses that I will be visiting often this weekend - now THAT might be a problem. (note to self: remember to bring plenty of extra kleenex and that hand sterilizer gel stuff)

Have a great day all - back to the books for me!

  • oh, man, spot...I hate those little green out houses!

of course now that YOU mentioned it I'll think of you every time I see one. Kind of sweet in a wacky sort of way.

Robin, glad the shop is doing well and that you are back on track and that your dh is supporting you...that is nice.

sorry about the nails, Sherry! I feel your pain. I remember one time I had on fakeys and I was playing softball and slid into home....man that was a bloody mess....yea...put me in coach, I'm ready to play. gosh that was a long time ago. You should stay out of the file room!

Wish I could watch Shrek with little Miree, Pooky...I bet she is cute watching it...I loved it my boys thought there was to much kissing.

Ruth! I vote to keep it a daily. I don't post too much because I am wigging out about my surgery which is in one month tomorrow (but who the heck is counting). I read everyday though and am trying to keep my hysterics to a minimum (ya think that's easy?) ROFL I love reading your posts and everyone elses. The flowers brought a smile to my face. You're a sweetie.

gosh if I keep going and getting mushy you'd think I was facing major surgery or something?

trying to pull myself in and NOT be hysterical. Gee, if I lose enough weight I won't have to hyperventalate in a paper bag and maybe I could just bend over and hang my head between my legs so as not to catch the vapors.

    what exactly ARE the vapors?
and do you have to have a 19 inch waist to have them?

    ok, I'll stop...love you guys!

  • <SIGH> i have so much to say and not enough time to say it!!!

but here's the biggest news: the major thorn in my side at work has QUIT!!!! yes folks, the most inconsistent, abusive, arrogant, nonsupportive VP in existence will be gone as of tuesday!!!

and that leaves me in charge!!! oh lord help us all!!!!!

and i've been asked to lead the wls support groups. should be interesting. any thoughts? i'm collecting as many ideas as i can. as they're run now, it's boring and all focused on telling newbie post ops that yes, they have to take their vits. and no, the docs aren't kidding about the protein. and drink your water.

there's no discussion about coping with the changes or figuring out how to make it all work. so... any and all suggestions will be gratefully accepted.

and next friday [the 18th] is the first appt with the plastic surgeon!

time for bed, my lovely friends. love you all
  • Oh, Jiff, what great news about that thorn in your side doing a disappearing act! We all know the h*** you've been through. Let's hope this marks a new beginning for you. BTW, I think you'll do great in charge and be a real inspiration. Sorry I have no brilliant suggestions though. I'm pretty ignorant on the subject.

Robin, I'm so glad your business is doing so well. You certainly have put a lot of thought and effort into it, so it's great to see it paying off at last. YOur hubby's sign business too.

Peachy, are you having the gastric by-pass done? Good for you. Just about everyone who's had it has done great so why should you be any different. Think how gorjus you're gonna be.

Today has been a totally OP day for me on my own version of Atkins/SBD combo. Wouldn't you know I'd have to mess with a good thing.
