If you want another good reason to go on (and stay on) a low sugar/low carb diet ...

  • Watch this 20 minute video linked below ...

This plays right into the IP Diet philosophy wheelhouse. Most Americans are eating too much sugar (i.e. too many carbs).

It also provides a very interesting history of the interplay between the big food corporations, the foods they create and promote, and the deteriorating health of many Americans over the past 100 years.

And also a key medical (parasitic) result of this "American" high sugar diet -- and how that actually makes it hard to diet and where these uncontrollable sugar/carb cravings might be coming from.

Thanks, Avalon, for this information. I think we are learning so much about what we have been doing to our bodies beyond the obvious issue of the excess weight.

I hope my mind will remember this every day so that I KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt what I want avoid.

How are you doing on your days now with your rest from Phase 1 - how are you feeling and what are you enjoying. We miss your posting on here!
  • Still on my much needed phase 3 break and have been able to maintain my weight loss which is fantastic

Five months on no-cheat phase 1 is a long darn time ... LOL

Still eating mostly turkey and vegetables and herb tea for liquids .... But not so calorie restricted

The main thing is I feel healthy (after dropping 80 pounds) for the first time in years

I guess now I've gone from having a health motivation ... to having a pure vanity motivation ... to lose additional pounds. But at least I don't feel like I'm going to die if I don't lose more weight.

Blood sugar is normal, blood pressure is normal, cholesterol is normal ...
my doctor is calling me healthy
And in December said I'm no longer diabetic

So I'm in a pretty good place

Avalon - vanity is OK as a motivation, too! I have discovered how much I love looking at and trying on smaller size clothes.

Good luck with your Phase 3 break and do not be a stranger.

You are so inspiring. I know that long term won't be 'easy' and it makes me a little nervous -- especially now as I'm getting antsy to move into a new Phase. Seeing that it can be done is so so helpful. Thanks for sharing
