Uncomfortable in my own body - need to lose it!

  • Hi Folks,

Long story short, I have been on prednisone for almost two years. I have gained over 100lbs in that time, the majority of it in the first 6 months and it absolutely has to go. I feel terrible, and my body also looks like it has gone through a meat grinder because of the extensive and severe striae which regardless how much weight I lose... Will always be there.

    Looking for help & inspiration.
  • Carbzi (great user name!) If it's support & inspiration you're looking for, you came to the right place!!!

Sorry to hear about the long-term prednisone, hope you are feeling better. Are you still taking it?
  • Hi Carbzi! You'll get lots of support here! Browse around, there's a lot to read, and jump right in! Good luck!
  • Welcome!

  • Welcome!

I know the horrors of Prednisone. I still shiver when my dr says "let's try prednisone"... I am so sorry. I know that drug can deliver relief to one, it did to me....but at what cost....hunger and thirst; incredible hunger and thirst.

But you are here. Ready to commit. You can do it!

I "only" gained 40-50 pounds on Prednisone. So far I have lost 20 of the 50; it packed on quicker than it is coming off....but I am committed. So can you!
  • Hi Again.

I thought Carbzi was rather clever too.. As it is my weakness. I can give up sweets, meats, fats... But not my carbs

I am still on prednisone, although a very low dosage. I actually have a disease called Wegener's Granulomatosis.

I need some help doing some meal planning... I know what types of foods to cook; but I struggle when it comes to side dishes because I really shouldn't eat raw lettuce or raw veggies (blanched is ok).
