This is my year! (Hopefully)

  • Hi everyone:

My name's Leanna. I'm 26 from Ontario, Canada. I don't know exactly where to start, but I figured this was as good a place as any! I'm not big on resolutions, but I do want to take this year to improve on me. 2013 was a very bad year. I lost around 40-50 pounds and gained it all back plus some. Very discouraging. I have gained an additional 40 pounds within a short amount of time. My mom passed away in October and I think I have been eating pretty horribly since. What can I say? I'm an emotional eater.

I know I want to lose at least 100 pounds, but I don't really have a definite goal as of yet. I was reading another person's post who suggested doing it in increments of 10 pounds. That sounds like a clever plan, so I may go with that. My problem is, I get discouraged very easily, so I do need the extra support. I figured this was a good place with lots of support, so I just wanted to introduce myself first.

  • So sorry about the loss of your mom. I am 26 too and also working on 100 lbs. Feel free to message me anytime!
  • Good luck with your goal!
  • I believe losing your mother is one of life's greatest sorrows. Take care and try to be well.
  • Thanks for the support everyone!

My mom and I were very close, she was my best friend. She was also a great motivator. I really need to learn how to not eat so much when I'm depressed and sad.
  • Hi Leanna! I am just so sorry for your loss. I know when I lost my mother years ago, it really took a toll on me and actually started me on my downward spiral, so I understand. But look at you taking positive steps forward! I have to believe that's exactly what your Mom would want for you!

I want to invite you to join the January Weight Loss Challenge thread under "Chicks Up for a Challenge" in Support Groups: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/chic...challenge.html. It's a very active thread and everyone is really nice, encouraging, and supportive there. It's a great way to stay motivated and accountable. We'd love to have you!

    Good luck!
  • Hi Leanna! I just wanted to say welcome, and let you know that I also lost my mother when I was relatively young (28). That's not an easy thing. I totally dealt with it by eating for comfort too. I managed to lose some of it, but gained it back so here I am. Like you I am working to lose at least 100lbs. We can totally do this!
