Jumping Jacks on the Beach or the "E" Word

  • Hi all,

Thought I'd start a thread that talks about the dreaded E word...EXERCISE. I know SBD advertises no E needed, but if you're doing a regular workout--post about it here. I'm a regular on the Ladies Who Lift Board (and have been for a couple of years) but I thought I'd post here to see how everyone is doing with E and SBD and exchange ideas. I'm really curious to see how SBD plays into my workouts.

I lift weights, do cardio on the treadmill and swim. I'm trying to be regular at 4x a week. I go to the gym in the middle of the night, both weekend nights and twice during the week.
I also am going to start my daily walk again. My dog enjoys that. But I'm not one who thinks my way is the only way. I like to hear what everyone does.

My best friend does WW and goes to Curves and loves it a lot. Another friend does low carb and is into aerobic dancing. I'm always curious about what everyone is doing or thinking of doing and how SBD has made your workouts better or affected them in any way.

  • I envy you your energy. I try to get to the local indoor pool three times a week and do a one hour workout, starting with weights for about 10 minutes (those floating dumbells) followed by about 40 minutes deep water jogging and 10 minutes of lengths.
I can't do much land walking due to bad knees and feet but I'm hoping, if the pounds ever start to melt off, to get back to walking. I also have a large flower garden which keeps me busy and is supposed to help with flexibility.
I'm actually thinking about checking out Curves, which, I've just discovered, does have a branch in my area. It sounds about my speed.
  • My exercising has very sporadic lately, yet I know that it will certainly help the fat loss. So, with alittle support from the Beach Babes, I want to get back into a regular workout at least 3 X a week, starting today.
That being said, as soon as I get off this computer, I'm going downstairs to ride the bike and lift a few light weights.

    Thanks for the push, Susanje
  • I was exercising regularly the first week and lost 6 pounds. I've not exercised in 3 days and I'm up a pound! Still sticking to the diet religiously though. But then that's always been typical for me. No matter what diet plan I follow, if I don't exercise then I don't lose any weight.

  • Wow - Susan I admire your comittment to "E". My focus is on walking. I'm hoping to complete the Portland Marathon in October and am ramping up my milage every day. In addition - I play with my excercise ball to stretch and do a few crunches here and there. I really need to be more regular with the ball since an injury would really spoil my plan.

Linda - I love pool exercise because it is much more of a workout than you realize when you are doing it. Being in the water guarantees me a good nights sleep.
