Hi my name is Quanza, I am 22, going to be 23 next month, and I honestly wish I could say my weight has been a struggle for me in the past. Unfortunately, I am from a family that not only supports being overweight or “healthy as they would say it, but they actually frown upon those who don’t “have meat on their bones”.
Growing up, it was never an issue of my size, I had great friends, never was bullied, and a loving family. Since I've gotten older, I've watch obesity attack the members of my family in the form of diabetes, heart attacks, strokes, arthritis, you name it, and my family has it. I have sat down and looked at pictures of myself as a child and I must say, I am shocked that my family condoned this pattern.
I’ve decided to take on the role of breaking this chain and making sure I am not a victim of obesity. I am currently 5’0 and 250lbs. My goal weight is 170-180lbs, which I know is still above my healthy BMI, but it’s a start for me and I figured if I can lose 70-80lbs, I can accomplish anything!
I am really looking forward to meeting great new people. I want to support others as well as have the support of others to get through this.
Thank You,
-Quanza
