  • So I'm on Day 3 and I have a few questions (my coach went on vacation yesterday so I have no one to ask)...

    1. Eggs – So if I read my data correctly, I can have 4 whole eggs PLUS 2 egg whites which equals ONE 8oz “meat” serving?
    2. If I can use lemon juice, can I use lime juice too?
    3. Can I make my own chicken broth for use in recipes as long as it only contains my Phase 1 veggies? (ie: skinless chicken, water, spices, celery)
    4. Can I use canned tomatoes as long as they don’t have any added sugar in them?
    5. Can I use baking soda and/or baking powder in my IPS recipes?
    6. Can you use Worcestershire Sauce, Dijon mustard and anchovy paste as long as they are all 0/0/0? (ie: for homemade Caesar dressing.)
    7. Can I use dehydrated onion flakes in Phase 1 in place of cooked onions?

Sorry for so many questions! If you can answer one or 2 or more, I'd love and appreciate your input. Thanks everyone!

    Ally.
  • 1. Yes! Eggs a'plenty!
    2. I think you can but lemon juice is preferred.
    6. Yes mustard. Not sure about the rest.

    That's all I've got. Happy Day 3!

    yes
    .
Additionally, to sub for an omelette packet, 1 whole egg + 3 egg whites
    2. If I can use lemon juice, can I use lime juice too?
    I do. Not excessively, however.

    3. Can I make my own chicken broth for use in recipes as long as it only contains my Phase 1 veggies? (ie: skinless chicken, water, spices, celery)
    I do
    4. Can I use canned tomatoes as long as they don’t have any added sugar in them?
yes. just know they are cooked and will measure differently than raw
    5. Can I use baking soda and/or baking powder in my IPS recipes?
    yup. 0/0/0

    6. Can you use Worcestershire Sauce, Dijon mustard and anchovy paste as long as they are all 0/0/0? (ie: for homemade Caesar dressing.)
    What Worchestershire is 0/0/0???
    dijon yes
    Anchovy paste will have fat
    7. Can I use dehydrated onion flakes in Phase 1 in place of cooked onions?
yes. Also consider green onion (scallions) and leeks in cooking.
The biggest thing about onions is that they not carmelize.

I wanna know too! I LOVE Worchestershire and it's the one thing I MISS on this diet!

And Leeks are a GREAT replacement for onions!
  • Does this mean that you can just use regular eggs (1 whole and 3 whites) instead of buying the IP omelette packets? whoo hoo! There is just something about egg powder that doesn't really sit well with me!

Yes. but don't mention it to your coach. They are in it to sell the product.

I have seen so many IP Phase Recipes with Worcestershire in them! Guess I'm going to have to really watch!
  • Heinz Worchestershire sauce is 0/0/0, Lea & Perrins is NOT...gotta pick your brand

I am just curious about something, I use the omelet mix because real eggs and I have issues in the morning, but what about Ideal Protein's claim about "biological protein" being one of the main reasons we use the packets instead of real food. Would we access less protein from the eggs or access it less effectively?
  • I asked my coach specifically about lime juice and was told NO lime juice, just lemon. Since I am trying to stick to it 100%, I am going with that. Walden Farms dressings have been wonderful and I am finding them more and more places now.

Thank you so much for pointing this out. I have missed Worchestershire sauce.

It's the SMELL of the powder I can't get past... even tried adding some egg whites to it and can't do it.

Here are the ingreidents for the Heinz Worchestershire sauce, it may be 0/0/0 but with Molasses being in it, we can't have it right? That's sugar pretty much?

    Ingredients (16):
Vinegar Distilled, Molasses, Soy Sauce (Water, Salt, Soy Protein Hydrated, Corn Syrup, Caramel Color) , Dextrose, Salt, Caramel Color, Flavoring Natural, Fish Anchovies, Polysorbate 80, Soy Flour, Garlic Extract
