Aftertaste - does it go away?

  • Hi. I'm on day 5 of the IP diet and so far so good. It's easy to follow and I'm never hungry. I'm fully committed to losing weight on this method.

My only issue is the flavor of some of the foods, which have a chemical aftertaste. I'm assuming it's the sugar substitute. My question is whether or not that ever goes away.

In general, prior to this diet, I have tried to avoid all non-food items in my food choices but still eat healthy. I know I overdid it on the carbs, but I've stayed away from most simple carbs and rarely use sugar (I've used organic pure xgave syrup, for instance, which doesn't have an aftertaste but still has some calories).

Does it just take time for your taste buds to ignore that chemical taste, or am I doomed to grin and bear it throughout the diet? Did anyone else experience this?

BTW - This site it amazing. Such inspiring posts that fuel my commitment as I embark on this journey.
  • I don't know why the after taste would go away. You'll get used to it but it will still be there.

If you don't feel you need the in person support, there are other programs out there that are also PSMF diets but rely on whole foods not packets. My personal favorite is "Rapid Fat Loss"

I'm on day 26 and from my (limited) experience, you'll get used to the taste. Some packets have more of an aftertaste than others, so as you move forward, you may find packets more to your liking in terms of the taste. You can also doctor things up to add different kinds of flavour to your meals. There are some excellent recipe threads on this forum.
