Not much to lose...will IP work for me?

  • I have done a lot of research and am really considering trying IP. I am about 10-12 lbs from my goal weight. Has anyone done IP to lose the last of their weight? What is a reasonable expectation for weight loss and how long will it take when so close to your goal? Thanks for the info.
  • thats not much to lose, you can probably do that in 1-3weeks. Depends on your age, and if your male or female. To lose that little, some minor changes to diet or excercise could get you there. This diet would do it fast.
  • It will! The only thing I will advise is not to expect the huge numbers that many people see every week. When you have less to lose, it does come off more slowly than when you have more to lose. It's a simple matter of math - the smaller you are, the less calories your body needs to function, so there is a smaller difference between what your body needs every day and how many calories you are eating. The bigger that gap, the faster the weight loss - the smaller that gap, the slower.

Also remember that Phase 1 of IP is a no-exercise plan. With so little to lose it might be tempting to try to "speed up" the process by adding exercise - but doing so can actually STALL weight loss. IP is super low calorie and doesn't provide enough fuel to support muscle recovery after even light exercise.

    Good luck!

I just completed week 4 of P1 and last night my chiro/couch gave me the okay to start weight training (low weight, high reps) and said a little cardio was okay (up to 50% whatever that means). I have an appointment today with personal trainer. I have so much energy, I really need an outlet as I'm finding it hard to sleep. But I agree at the beginning absolutely NO exercise, at least the first month.
