Ketchup anyone???

  • Wondering if anyone had a good ketchup alternative IP recipe. Hate WF ketchup....
  • Heintz sugar free ketchup.

    or

    6 ounce can tomato paste
    8 ounce can tomato sauce
    1/4 cup plus 3 tablespoons white vinegar
    1/4 cup water, or enough to get the right consistency
    1/4 cup granular Splenda or equivalent liquid Splenda
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/4 teaspoon onion powder
    1/8 teaspoon allspice
    1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
    1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
    1/8 teaspoon garlic powder

    Mix all of the ingredients well. Cover and simmer for 1 hour. Cool then chill before serving. Keep refrigerated.

    1 tablespoon: 7 Calories; trace Fat; trace Protein; 2g Carbohydrate; trace Dietary Fiber; 1.5g Net Carbs
    1/4 cup: 28 Calories; trace Fat; 1g Protein; 7g Carbohydrate; 1g Dietary Fiber; 6g Net Carbs
    1 cup: 112 Calories; trace Fat; 5g Protein; 28.5g Carbohydrate; 5g Dietary Fiber; 23.5g Net Carbs

  • After 3 months on IP I finally found the Heinz low sugar ketchup as well-- Love baked tilapia with ketchup ( one of my favorite dinners!) but really just was grossed out by the look and taste of the WF. But their BBQ sauce, on the other hand, is a different story...

    I end up using my roasted red pepper sauce that I make for my meatballs as my ketchup. I really tried to limit tomatoes in phase 1 and this sauce worked perfectly for burgers etc. it's on the same blog as linked above.
