Hi There From Me 2 You

  • Hello all I'm new to these forums and have not lost weight in about 4 years. On the contrary, I've actually gained a good 5 pounds every year. Now I am at 170 lbs. This is the largest I have been.

I would like to lose at least 30, maybe even 40 pounds in 2 months.
I can fast a little, but I'm not able to really work out while I'm fasting. I tried fasting 10 days in a row on Tuesday, but broke the fast yesterday at eightish pm. If any of you have any tips about fasting that you can provide me I would appreciate that greatly.

I'm really serious this time. Thank you.
  • Hey, Ijustcant, and welcome. You CAN! I've fasted periodically throughout my long dieting history. It IS a quick fix, but every time I have fasted, I have eventually gained the weight back plus more.
Why the short time-frame for weight loss? I know, we all want it gone NOW, but it took you 4 years to put on, it will take a little time to get it off in a healthy way.
You should talk to your doctor, and maybe a nutritionist. Good luck! We're all rooting for you!

  • Realistically, I very much doubt you are going to lose that amount of weight in such a short time without doing serious long-term damage to your body. It's taken me 6 months to lose 20lbs, others they may lose 30+.

Some helpful advice, here is a thread on this forum that might help:

  • Welcome and good luck on your journey!!

I think you should adjust your expectations about how much you can lose in such a short time
  • Thank you guys so much for the warm welcome.

P.S. the reason for the short time frame was I wanted to be ready for going back to school.
But I guess 3 or 4 extra months wouldn't hurt.
  • Welcome! Yeah, your time frame seems to be a little short for your expectations.
Are you starting at a new school?
