  • I don't know how many of you use Pintrest, but there is a lot of food porn on there! You know what I mean, all of those pictures of oooy gooy and not so good for you meals and treats that make your mouth water. Many of the recipes claim to be "healthy" but are clearly not. Well, maybe they could be considered "low calorie" if you have just ONE mouthfull, but really who eats like that?

Anyway, in an effort to combat the greasy calorie laden food porn, here is a picture of my mid-afternoon snack of delicious and "healthy" fruit salad! It's only .7 calories per gram:

Anyone else have any good-for-you food porn they'd care to share? I thought maybe if we can see some tasty and healthy food we might opt for that instead of the easy access junk.
  • that's awesome
  • I can handle it on pinterest, but it's starting to p!ss me off on Facebook! And it's NEVER anything healthy. It's always things like cream cheese stuffed potatoes and pillsbury rolls turned into pizza. GRRRRRR. I've told my friends that if they food porn spam me, I"m going to growl!
  • YUM!!! I just went through my pinterest folder before I go to the store.

This flag looks awesome, I'd only do this if we were having company. (Then I'd probably tell everyone not to take any so they wouldn't wreck the perfection LOL!)

I think I have a star shaped cookie cutter to do watermelon!

Marinated grilled mushrooms are my most favorite grilled veggie!

This should be fairy healthy---chicken breast with bruschetta mix on top (diced tomatoes, basil, garlic and olive oil) and a sprinkle of mozzeralla. TDF (-to die for!!)

  • Cucumber dill salad! yumm!

  • Don't know if I'm allowed to post it, but I run a healthy eating instagram and its: athleticeating <- just put instagram . com before that

Moderators feel free to remove if I've violated a law!
  • The thing is, "healthy" means something different to everybody. It all depends on your food plan.

Something that is low cal and low fat but high carb isn't "healthy" for someone on a low carb diet.
Something that is low carb but high fat isn't "healthy" for someone on a low fat diet.
Something that only has 2WW points but is made with processed foods isn't "healthy" for someone who is eating clean.
Something that is made from clean ingredients but is high in natural sugars isn't "healthy" for someone who has issues with their blood sugar levels.
    Etc. etc.

So, I just look at those pins and think, "It may work for you, but not for me." Healthy is not a word that can be universally defined.
  • Maybe we should start posting recipes along with these pics!!

Elvis - what are those mushrooms marinated in?

Radiojane - I'd be tempted to try that cucumber dill salad!

Here is the link to the mushrooms---it's not my blog, just one I found on pinterest! It's balsamic vinegar, olive oil, oregano and harissa (? never heard of this so I guess I'd skip it!). I haven't tried them but it's on my list for this summer. They look so good on the skewers!

  • Harissa is an African chili paste. There are recipes where harissa would be necessary to create the authentic taste but for those mushrooms a sub would definitely work. You can substitute sriracha, which is a Thai chili sauce that is amazingly yum, or any other kind of hot chili type thing you have in the pantry.
  • Ohhh thank you, Novus!! We have sriacha!! I love love love it!!
  • RadioJane - OMG, I know what you mean about the facebook! I'm so tired of seeing kit kat cakes and the like. Do people really need to be posting these baked goods/candy concoctions???

Novus - You're absolutely right, healthy isn't a word that can be universally defined... But I'm pretty sure that most people would be looking sideways at some of the things that are labeled as such, lol.

Elvis - Oh, you've inspired me with the bruschetta chicken! I'm always looking for new ways to spice up my grilled chicken. I think I know what I'll be eating tonight

In case anyone is interested, here is the link to the fruit salad recipe (I got it from someone's blog): http://ohyoucook.blogspot.com/2011/0...-dressing.html
  • What time do you want us all at your house? LOL jk.

This is the link from the picture, I never made it using her recipe (I make my own mix with olive oil instead of using Kraft dressing) but sometimes it helps to see it in writing. I'm not good at cooking off the cuff, I need a sense of direction.

    Enjoy your dinner!

(I have no connection to this blog, it's just one I found on Pinterest)

  • Here's a pic of my actual salad I made for lunch the other day.....I'm starting to like the combo of fruit and veggies in my salads lately.
