Girl Documents Her Body in Photography

  • I just read this article on Yahoo about a young woman who documented her body & weight loss through self-portraits. The article says she wanted to photograph unconventional beauty & being judged for her size. I think she is unbelievably brave, to not only photograph herself so intimately at her largest weight but, to publicly share those photos. I can barely stand being in photos at all, and I certainly couldn't publicly share photographs of myself minimally clothed, showing every flaw. I'm in awe of her ability to take an honest look at herself & her body, & then make others do the same.
  • Wow, Rachel, thanks for sharing. I identified with her in so many of those pictures, I just was never brave enough to take pictures and acknowledge it. She's a beautiful woman. I hope she finds what she has been looking for. I hope we all do.
  • This is amazing. Thanks for sharing!
  • Wow! Great article find!
  • I would love to see the complete series of self portraits and hear more about what inspired this very public journey. Here is a link to Jen Davis' website: http://jendavisphoto.com/

Thanks! I can't stop looking at her photos. The one called "Steve & I" makes me want to cry. That and "4am." They also make me glad I'm in a much better place with loving my body than I used to be.
  • This really hit home, thanks for sharing!
  • Good photos but I didn't like her explanations of the photos. I don't like being guided through an image.
  • Beautiful.

This exactly! Glad it wasn't just me.
  • Wow. Some of those shots are very powerful. I'm glad it ends with functioning and love.
