Now I know why I'm not losing weight..

  • I have literally been within the same five pounds for about 4 months. Now I know why. I eat 4 meals a day. One in the morning, one at lunch, one after school, and one at night. I don't know why I was in such denial. It finally clicked today when I was looking at a success story on weightwatchers.com and the woman eats three meals a day with only two snacks. I can't even believe I've been doing this for so long and thinking that it might change. Now I'm going to have something to eat in the morning, at lunch, and at night. I will only allow two snacks. I can't believe that after 4 months I finally realize what I'm doing wrong.
  • I wouldn't say that having 4 meals per day is the problem, rather it must be what those meals consist of.

If you've found a way of eating that is intuitive to you, then perhaps consider sticking to the 4 meals per day but instead, adapting them to be smaller/healthier/less calorific etc.

    Good luck!
  • Glad to here about your "ah-ha" moment.

For me, I would only eat 3 meals a day, be miserable because I wasn't "full" and cave into temptation foods a lot easier or have a bigger dinner because lunch wasn't "enough". When it was suggested to eat 3 big meals and two snacks (one in between breakfast and lunch and the other between lunch and dinner), my mind was like "How is eating more going to help me lose weight?" But it does!!! I no longer have "big" meals or feel like I'm hungry all day thanks to those snacks during the day. Its amazing how eating more during the day helps you make better choices throughout the day.
  • I agree with 1987. Who is to say her 2 snacks aren't equal to your "4th" meal" point-wise?? If your 4 meals are not over your daily point allowance, then I don't see the problem? Do you touch any of your weekly points? I notice that does slow/stall my weight loss if I eat ALL of them. Everyone is different, some can eat all of the WP and still lose.

One more question, do you eat a lot of "free" fruits? That was one of the problems with the PP program, a lot of people overindulged on fruits thinking it was free but really, fruit still has calories. I'd limit to 2-3 servings a day in my opinion and based on others' recommendations on here.
  • I'm not so sure 4 meals is the problem but, as others have suggested, more a matter of what you're actually eating at those meals.
  • I agree with everyone else. Eat 2, 4 or even 6 meals a day and you can still stay under. It's all about what you are eating.
  • I agree with the other posters. Eating 4 meals aday doesn't have to be a problem, it all depends what they include.
    I eat 6 times a day 3 meals and 3 snacks.
